Speedvision Returns!

John B. Marine | 4/03/2023 07:09:00 PM | | | | | Be the first to comment!
Speedvision blew minds in 1995 with its devotion to automotive culture and motorsports. It became Speed Channel in 2002, and that offered more automotive awesomeness. It also had more NASCAR and Americana than Speedvision. It all ended in 2013, as Speed became FOX Sports 1. Now around 2022 and 2023, Speedvision rose up like the legendary Phoenix and became reborn as free ad-supported television (FAST). I'll be sharing some thoughts on the reborn Speedvision in this blog post, and I will also show some retrospective.

Speedvision Retrospective

I learned about the new Speedvision back on March 25, 2023 when I was watching a commercial on a network on Local Now. Before discussing the new Speedvision and know a lot about its importance to me as an automotive enthusiast and motorsports enthusiast, I must provide some retrospective. Because I have been such an avid Speedvision fan, I have a LOT of retrospective to cover before getting on to the main point of this blog post. Journey with me here...

My Retrospective on Speedvision.

The FOX-owned Speedvision hit airwaves first in 1995. The channel has had a handful of great shows and even at times some automotive-related movies. Speedvision was also well known for coverage of motorsports worldwide. Speedvision was best known for showing most motorsports not usually shown on the major networks. This is what made Speedvision so loved and revered. It would show a lot of racing events ranging from grassroots motorsports all the way to major events such as the Formula 1 World Championship, the World Rally Championship, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

What made Speedvision unique also related their unconditional love of any vehicle with a motor. Usually, Speedvision would dedicate Tuesday to "Two-Wheel Tuesdays," and Wednesdays would be "Wings and Water Wednesdays." Tuesdays were all about motorcycle racing usually with coverage of World Superbike and MotoGP. Tuesdays would also see a quality motorcycle show called "American Thunder," focused on some cool cruiser motorcycles and chopper motorcycles.

"Wings and Water Wednesday" was what it sounded like it was about- planes and boats. So on these days, you would watch things like plane races on the planes side. A handful of races involving powerboats, hydroplanes, jet skis, and more would make up "Wings and Water Wednesday."

Weekends were mostly devoted to both racing action as well as some automobile movies. So you could see movies like "Le Mans" or "The Speed Merchants" on Saturday nights. The weekends also had "Speedvision News" with all of the latest news updates in the world of motorsports. Usually when NASCAR was done, there would be coverage of international racing series such as the British Touring Car Championship, DTM, Australian V8 Supercars, and more.

In addition to quality automotive programming, it also sponsored SCCA racing with touring cars and GT cars with the Speedvision World Challenge series. This was an opportunity to see quality road racing featuring many racing talent racing across tracks in the United States and Canada. These were fun-to-watch racing events that further enhanced the appeal of Speedvision. Speedvision did have something different from the mainstream racing series when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup was featured mostly on Thursday nights. It also played host to covering non-racing events, such as the Barrett-Jackson Automobile Auction. Speedvision even shown off coverage of the SCCA's greatest showcase of talent- the SCCA Runoffs.

Speedvision did have some featured programs that I remember best in the Speedvision days. "Motorsport Mundial" was a great show showcasing the world of racing in a 30-minute program. "Legends of Motorsport" takes you back in time with past names, races, and marques who helped shape motorsports history. Speedvision also featured the "Victory by Design" series, which highlighted on certain world-class marques. The cars were driven and narrated by the late Alain de Cadenet (whom I loved). There was even the fun show, "Dream Car Garage," featuring the late Tom Hnatiw and Peter Klutt. This show had some very nice cars featured and worked on. For some perspective on automotive news, Speedvision shown "Autoline Detroit" with host John McElroy.

A lot of the personalities that made Speedvision included (but not limited to) Bob Varsha, David Hobbs, Calvin Fish, Dorsey Schroder, Rick Benjamin, Greg Creamer, Tommy Kendall, and Alain de Cadenet.

Speedvision had bigger plans for when 2002 came around. Gone was Speedvision and in will become Speed Channel the following year. Speedvision will be gone and be reborn as... Speed Channel.

My Retrospective of Speed Channel.

That magical formula of Speedvision would be modified when Speedvision became Speed Channel in 2002. With Speed Channel, more of Americana would make Speed Channel a bit more mainstream with NASCAR and some other mostly American racing series. Some would feel Speedvision lost its luster when it started being more NASCAR-friendly rather than stick to its love of all things automotive and motorsports. While it wasn't the perfect formula to some, the same love of automotive culture and motorsports was still alive. Many more new shows would surface as well as a broader array of featured motorsports events with Speed Channel.

So what did this new Speed Channel bring? Well, there is now two different Speed News shows- one devoted to NASCAR, and one devoted to all other motorsports. NASCAR Practice and Qualifying was on Speed Channel. It was mostly Mondays that were devoted to NASCAR. Tuesdays were still motorcycle-friendly. However, there wasn't any more of "Wings and Water Wednesday." Weekends were still about full-speed racing action. Some Speedvision purists would probably think this new Speed Channel shyed away from what Speedvision was all about. If Speed Channel brought something great, its grandest show was "WindTunnel With Dave Despain," a one-hour call-in show featuring motorcycle aficionado Dave Despain talking about the world of motorsports and interviewing many motorsports and automotive personalities.

What about shows? Between 2002 and Speed's demise, a lot more unique shows came along. Among the many- Hi-Rev Tuners, Sports Car Revolution, LUCAS Oil On The Edge, Fifth Gear, SpeedFreaks, MotorWeek (syndicated), Forza Motorsport Showdown, Pinks, Pinks All-Out, 100 Cars You Must Drive, Pass Time, Wrecked, Test Drive, World's Greatest Auto Shows, Tuner Transformation, I Wanna Date a Race Car Driver, Texas Hardtails, Setup, Drag Race High, and Wrecked. That was quite enough shows to keep automobile fans busy!

As Speedvision became Speed Channel, the Speedvision World Challenge would become the Speed Channel World Challenge. Personally around this time with "Sports Car Revolution," this was where I got to appreciate Chip Herr when he raced in the series. There were still a lot of great series that were aired on the network. In the later years of Speed Channel before its demise, it would even be the home of AMA Supercross.

Most of the same talent that made Speedvision great returned for Speed Channel. Among the newer names were Robin Miller, Leigh Diffey, Jamie Howe, and more.

What is this "demise of Speed Channel" I speak of? Well, some time in 2013, Speed Channel started airing things... other than motorsports. Speed Channel shown a pageant featuring Hooters girls, and they even aired some football (as in soccer) from the English Premier League. This was where Speed Channel was going to become FOX Sports 1. Additionally, Fuel TV, a channel devoted to outdoor sports, was to become FOX Sports 2.

Then on August 17, 2013; Speed Channel would become... FOX Sports 1, and Fuel TV would become... FOX Sports 2. Gone are 18 years devoted to automobile programming and motorsports programming. In their places are a sports network devoted to different kinds of sports but still airs racing from time to time. I called this move as "the biggest middle-finger to motorsports fans" when Speed Channel became FS1. Media would be without a true motorsports home.

Life After Speedvision/Speed Channel.

What happened after Speed Channel became no more? Mostly NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) had a good deal of featuring motorsports including the IndyCar Series, MotoGP, and even Formula 1. When NBC Sports Network became no more, the various NBC Networks (NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network) have shown various racing series as well as other sports. CBS Sports Network featured a lot of motorsports also. This included the LUCAS Oil Off-Road Series and the Blancpain GT3 Series among others. The only networks close to what Speed Channel used to provide are MavTV for motorsports, and then Motor Trend TV for mostly automotive programming, and MTTV shows the 24 Hours of Le Mans on American television.

Even with these channels offering here-and-there content, it wasn't Speedvision or Speed Channel. Different channels with the same devotion is like having multiple friends or lovers for different things... only no singular entity offering all that Speedvision had to offer. That is... until 2022 and 2023...

Speedvision Returns!

Now for the main course of this blog post- Speedvision RETURNS! Speedvision returns as a free ad-supported television (FAST) network with over 500 hours of automotive programming. It can be seen on a number of platforms and TV apps. I watch Speedvision on Local Now. However, it can also be seen on other platforms like PLEX.

Speedvision has a lot going for it as a FAST network. Shows new and old are on this new Speedvision. Among them, Gearz, Truck U, Graveyard Cars, AmeriCarna, My Superbike Family, and more. Some other automotive programs are in the pipeline for the future of Speedvision. Shows like "Zero-60," "14th Street Wheels," and "Radford Reborn" are coming in the future as of April 3, 2023.

The new Speedvision does have one or two programs I saw that reminded me of the old Speedvision- two programs devoted to plane documentaries. One of those shows I saw was on the Tuskegee Airmen.

What I Want for the New Speedvision.

The amount of content for Speedvision so far is very good. I do, however, want Speedvision to somehow get itself some motorsports programming. This is to purely be like the former Speedvision. A number of other FAST networks have motorsports coverage, including (but not limited to) MavTV Select, MotorRacing, motorsport.tv, and Auto AllStars. The only thing I'm unsure about is if they could have themselves old school Speedvision and Speed Channel shows- just to take things back in time.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like "Legends of Motorsport" return with classic motorsports coverage. On the racing coverage front, I wouldn't mind seeing maybe some Trans-Am, SCCA racing, NASA racing, some grassroots racing, time attack, just a variety of racing. I just want to see a modern Speedvision drawing on past energy to produce some great material for the future.

That is more of what I am after- give newer viewers a quality experience of Speedvision, but then also let the old Speedvision fans get to enjoy the Speedvision that has been absent for a number of years.

Preview and More Information.

Ferrari Purosangue

John B. Marine | 3/12/2023 10:55:00 PM | | Be the first to comment!
Oh, no! What is the world coming to?! A Ferrari SUV? First of all, calm down. That's what many of us were thinking at just the thought of a Ferrari SUV. Well, that SUV is here, and it's called the Purosangue. I want to share some thoughts on the Ferrari Purosangue in this blog post. Maybe you can agree or disagree with my points. Let's chat!

BEFORE I BEGIN...

This blog post is NOT a journalistic review at the Ferrari Purosangue. Everything you see here is all opinion-based with a handful of facts.

Though this blog is under the category of "Car Style," I retired the Car/Motorcycle/Motorsport Style designation from my blog posts (or will eventually) and simply use them for my blog posts about specific vehicles.

Ferrari Purosangue

Meet the Ferrari Purosangue...

Ferrari Purosangue
^ from: (YouTube) - The Ferrari Purosangue is not your average sport utility vehicle for a number of reasons.

The Ferrari Purosangue is Ferrari's first sport utility vehicle and its first four-door vehicle. The word "Purosangue" translates to "thoroughbred." It is a sport utility vehicle that allows you to enjoy the awesomeness only Ferrari can provide but in SUV form. Just entertaining the thought of an SUV left a lot of people to wonder, "ANOTHER SUV..."

Ferrari Pursosangue: Basic Specifications.

Some of the basic numbers on the Ferrari Purosangue are as follows. For one thing, the Purosangue has a normally-aspirated, 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 715 horsepower and 528 lb. ft of torque. It can go from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 193 mph. The vehicle weighs in at 4850 lbs. The Purosangue has an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain.

Why an SUV, Ferrari? WHY?!

The sport utility vehicle has evolved over the past decades. They mostly began as rugged trucks able to carry people and goods safely. They had the usefulness of a truck and either a station wagon/estate car or a minivan. Over time, more car-based SUVs surfaced. SUVs also became less thirsty for fuel over its evolution. Even some of the most unlikely companies made their own sport utility vehicles- including (but not limited to) Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Aston Martin. Chances are, none of these SUVs from high-end makers will overshadow more common trucks and SUVs. On the other hand, not one of these exotic SUVs would really blow away most heavyweights in SUVs. Most companies sell SUVs to be their entry-level or low-level offerings. Some would call it a cheap way to get into most of these world-class manufacturers' ecosystems.

What would cringe most people is why Ferrari decided to make an SUV. I mean- we're talking about Ferrari here. What business does Ferrari have making their own SUV when they could be making dream supercars, dream hypercars, and dream race cars? Well, whether you love or loathe SUVs, there is one universal fact- SUVs sell. People buy and use SUVs in their lives. Ferrari perhaps felt it was best to bestow with enough coin to afford a Purosangue to give them not only the best SUV experience, but also enjoy all that makes a Ferrari distinctive and incredible in a most unusual and even most unexpected form.

Even though the Ferrari Purosangue is an SUV, and while most companies offer SUVs as entry-level access to some dealers, the Ferrari Purosangue does NOT come cheap. In fact, a Purosangue will set you back about $402K USD, so you'd better bring some money if you want one of these.

Ferrari Purosangue: Why Should I Care?

The Ferrari Purosangue is actually engineered beautifully as a sporty road-going SUV. I emphasized road-going because it is not likely you are going to push this SUV to the limits off-road like here in America, on rally-style roads in Europe, or even the touge mountain passes of Japan. The Purosangue stands alone because it was built from the ground up and not based on any other offering from Ferrari or some other company within Ferrari. It has a lot of ducts and extra touches to give it the best possible performance on the road. Don't laugh, but this Purosangue is pure Ferrari in an SUV form. It even has luxurious accommodations without feeling like high-ranked government officials or excessively rich individuals should be driving them. The Purosangue has some driver modes and features to make it feel more like a sports car when pushed hard enough. Ferrari is basically selling the Purosangue in the sense of being a pure sports car under an SUV guise.

In other words... think of the Ferrari Purosangue as a much more utilitarian (and personally, better looking) FF with the DNA of the Ferrari Roma.

Now for some final thoughts.

Ferrari Purosangue: Final Thoughts

The Ferrari Purosangue is a sport utility vehicle that is not your average sport utility vehicle. It is not even your average high-end sport-utility vehicle. This is not going to be the posh SUV that will carry around the likes of the Kardashians or the Jenners. It is instead an SUV with a distinctive personality and exquisite engineering to set itself apart from all other SUVs. Ferrari succeeded at an SUV that can comfortably carry around more people and a decent amount of cargo. Its high price tag of around $402K USD (excluding taxes) may seem exorbitant and silly, but you are getting a sport utility vehicle with a great emphasis on "sport."

Maybe the Ferrari Purosangue won't make you the toughest driver in a truck and SUV meet. Maybe you won't traverse the harshest of terrains or compete in the most extreme off-roading events in the Purosangue. Then again... could you do this in SUVs like the Cayenne, Urus, Stelvio, DBX, Bentayga, Cullinan, or other exotic SUVs? Not even a lot of people in today's crossover SUVs actually push them off-road, so what's the point? I therefore see the Purosangue as a pure driver's SUV for those who have the money to afford one. It may not replace the Testarossa, F40, F430, Enzo Ferrari, LaFerrari, or whatever your all-time favorite Ferrari is; however, it will definitely be one of the most unique and memorable Ferraris ever made. Rather than complain about yet another SUV on the market, praise the Purosangue as one of the most exotic, exclusive, and all around fun vehicles (let alone SUVs) ever produced.

For More Information...

Allow me to give you a video of the SUV you were reading about all of this time, along with other resources for you to learn more about the Ferrari Purosangue:

Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game Thoughts

John B. Marine | 12/11/2018 05:16:00 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Anyone can make a car. How many, though, can properly engineer a car from start to finish? What about the marketing aspects as well? #AutomationGame will challenge you on all of these aspects and then some. You can build any car you so desire, but you must learn to properly engineer your car(s) as well as handle the financial aspects to be the best car designer in the world. Because Automation is an Early Access game, this is not a proper review. Instead, it is a thoughts blog post based on impressions.

Before I Begin...

I had a tough time deciding between putting this blog post on "John's Blog Space" and "John's Race Space." There is no actual racing or driving you do in this game, so I put this into "John's Blog Space."

Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game

"Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game" was first released in 2015 on Steam. Its history, however, dates back to about 2012, when it won the award for Best Technical Innovation - Freeplay. It is a game developed and published by Camshaft Software, a New Zealand developer. This game gives gamers the opportunity to create automobiles to whatever specifications they so desire. The graphical experience was previously powered by the Kee Engine. However, later builds of Automation has this game running on the amazing Unreal Engine 4 for impressive graphical quality. What begins with a dream and a vision can turn into a true-to-life representation through a lot of hard work and a lot of tuning of specifications. Don't think of Automation much like a 3D modeling studio for making your own cars. Instead, think of it as being able to build your own hamburger or deli sandwich from two pieces of bread to any number of fixings to make your own dream meal. I hope you weren't hungry before reading that last sentence, but you get the idea. Automation is an automotive studio where you go from concept to completion using a handful of automobile bodies and configuring things ranging from engine, drivetrain, and more. The attention to detail actually makes you think about the automobiles you are building.

You can jump right into the Sandbox and build any vehicle of your dreams, or you can challenge yourself in a number of scenarios. The game even has some campaigns you can take part in, but I haven't been able to do any available campaigns as of the date of this initial blog post (December 11, 2018). When you're building your car, you can get a lot of information on how to construct your automobile. You even can get some pointers on car design by seeing the suggestions offered. Anything featured in yellow or (especially) red must be addressed immediately. Good luck building your vehicles!

By the way... you can download certain mods to allow for more tuning options. For example, there is a mod where you can build cars that have massive W16 engines (like the Bugatti Veyron).

Taking Your Creations Further.

Announced on July 13, 2018; "Automation" gamers can export their creations from Automation to the popular driving and crashing simulator "BeamNG Drive." This unique collaboration will allow gamers to drive (and even wreck) their Automation creations.

A look at "BeamNG Drive" will be provided in a future blog post on "John's Race Space," so stay tuned for more on this front.

Is This Game Similar in Some Respects?

To me, Automation reminds me a lot of the Carrozzeria mode in "SEGA GT," only MUCH more detailed.

A Car Builder Story.

The United States never got the Nissan Silvia S15. Back in the late 1990s or early 2000s, I dreamed that I brought the S15 Silvia to the United States under my own company, "Marine Motors." I had my own visions of being my own automaker. So a game like this kind of reminds me of being that vivid dreamer I am.

Further details now on Automation. Next section coming up...

Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game - Details

I've talked a good bit about enhanced detail in Automation. HOW detailed, though? Here is a brief look at what you will be encountering when building your own automobiles. Most of this based on what I can immediately think of without having to load up the game. So it is very likely I will skip a lot of things. But of course... these are for you to find out on your own! Anyhow, let's do this!

Bodies.

Automation begins with you selecting a body to help you begin to create your own vehicle. You have many different basic bodies to choose from as well a handful of body types to choose from. So you can make any kind of car ranging from an economical city car to the most exclusive of exotic cars. Don't like cars? No problem- build yourself a pickup truck, a sport utility vehicle (SUV), or even (don't laugh) a mini van. You could even make a commercial vehicle. Your choices can be whittled down to specific decades of automobile. So if you don't want a fancy-looking postmodern vehicle from the 2010s, you can make curve-happy 1990s car or go old school cool with a 1970s car. The options can even be subdivided into vehicles that can separated by what kind of engine layout you fancy for your automobile. You can choose to restrict your choices to front-engine bodies or try some cars not suited for front-engine placement.

Chassis.

Once you have come up with the base for your automobile, the next step is to build the chassis. This is where you begin to build the car from its chassis to the different performance bits. Think about the structure of your car as well as the different materials used to build your automobile. After thinking about the vehicle's body composition, you will then think about suspension setup among other things.

More importantly, this menu includes the various fixtures you can apply to your car. Don't like the body style you chose? You can morph certain parts of the car as close to be as close to the body style you dreamed of for your automobile. You can even paint up your car with any number of colors ranging from base colors to more interesting car paint styles. You may elect (for example) to have your car paint with lots of flakes. You can choose even some kind of color-shifting paint as well. You obviously want to add things like lights, door handles, grills, mufflers, and more. Everything is up to you to customize. Oh, and in case you're wondering- certain components to your car's design actually affect its performance (such as aerodynamic bits like spoilers and wings). So think carefully with each part you install onto your vehicle.

Engine.

Are you a talented engine builder? If you answered "no," then this section can challenge your thinking in terms of building a solid engine to power your automobile. Think about things such as engine construction, materials, engine type, performance builds, compression, ignition timing, engine aspiration, and more. Adjust a handful of options to better engineer your engine. Only you can build up your engine to the specifications you choose.

Once you complete your engine, you have the opportunity to test your engine to properly engineer it for your automobile. You may notice your engine may knock early on. No worries- you can always go back and adjust options to make your engine properly work.

Performance and Testing.

When you complete your vehicle in Automation, you can test it in a number of situations. The biggest test you can give your automobile is to take it to the Automation Test Track. Even though you can not see your vehicle in the flesh on a 3D track, the game simulates your vehicle around a track. Use this as an opportunity to further refine your automobile.

Marketing and Segments.

You have some decisions to make here. Is your car economical enough to meet the needs of the greater public-at-large? Do you prefer making automobiles only a select few can own and have performance characteristics no normal car can equal or better? Know your audience and build to your heart's content. Or just don't give a crap about your audience and just make something as bonkers as bonkers can get.

These sections give you a basic idea of what to expect in "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game." Now let me give you some thoughts of mine on this game from playing it.

Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game - My Impressions

Let me tell you right now- this game will make you think! This game is not going to punish you for not being any kind of master automotive engineer. If anything, it can actually educate you in making a proper automobile. You will begin to appreciate designing proper automobiles by simply playing this game. The video tutorials can even assist you in making sure you are making the right choices in building your automobile from start to finish. Never before have I actually tried to envision designing a vehicle while also making sure it is practical and realistic. Then again, never before have there been a game where I could actually envision a potentially bonkers machine and actually make it work. Even your wildest fantasy automobiles can be built to if they were even remotely practical. This game has helped me to better appreciate the aspects of actually making an automobile and designing it all to be as practical (or maybe impractical) as possible. It gives you a different appreciation of automobiles if you previously have not had such appreciation.

I toned down a lot of the graphics options in "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game" just to make sure it plays well on my PC. The game does tend to crash a lot. Remember that Automation is an Early Access game as of the time of this initial blog post. These hopefully will be ironed out so that the game is more efficient.

The fact that a unique collaboration between "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game" and "BeamNG Drive" offers one of the most satisfying experiences of bringing your automotive creations to life. Having both programs can produce one of the greatest racing/driving experiences in all of gaming. The ability to export cars into "BeamNG.Drive" even allows you to race a proper 3D representation of the Automation Test Track rather than the simulated version in Automation! Even if you never actually become an automaker or even an automotive engineer, "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game" will allow you to live out some of your wildest automotive engineering fantasies. So go build that dream automobile of yours in Automation!

Video Preview.

Let the video below give you an idea of what all "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game" has to offer:

I hope I helped sway your interest some regarding this game. When my blog post on "BeamNG.Drive" is complete, find it on my "John's Race Space" blog. I may or may not update this blog post to include a link to my BeamNG.drive post on JRS.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Feel free to add this game to your game collection if you enjoyed this look at the game. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Buses

John B. Marine | 9/15/2017 02:48:00 AM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Carry lots of people on land and on city streets or country roads. How do you do so? Of course- on a bus! You probably rode one to school as a kid. You probably went around town in one. This is a just-for-fun post about buses. I know I blogged about the Volkswagen SambaBus in the past, but this blog post is about commercial buses. This is also a post I had sitting on my hard drive long ago but never completed until now.

NOTE: While this blog post is a "Just for Fun" post, all material offered is for educational purposes.

Buses in General

From school buses to city buses, these vehicles are meant to carry around loads of people comfortably. Passengers range from students, civilians, tourists, music bands, sports teams, and more. There are many buses for many different applications. A lot of responsibility is required in carrying loads of people. Nobody wants a deranged or unattentive driver behind the wheel of a bus, let alone any other kind of commercial vehicle. You wouldn't want to bear the burden of putting multiple peoples' lives at stake with poor operation of a bus now, would you? Most buses usually go around town, but some even go cross-country. Usually Greyhound buses here in the United States are known for their long-distance bus route travel. Some people have unique looking buses as well as some buses unique to certain cultures and locations. Regardless, buses do a great job carrying and transporting people across any sort of distance.

Because buses can be a means of getting people safely across certain distances, one big advantage to bus riding is that you don't have to worry about wasting gas/petrol with your vehicle to go out and about. This blog post bears a little connection personally because my brother's biological father used to operate buses. My brother and I even had spent money on bus rides around Houston before my brother eventually got his first vehicle. Even if you have to pay to ride buses, at least you are doing somewhat a favor for most major cities by riding clean on a bus.

My time riding buses to and from school has taken me towards some shuttle buses and even some proper school buses. I knew I was going to possibly have friends of mine from my school be part of a bus route. Or maybe I would make friends with students who went to other schools. Either way, the school bus was quite the childhood memory for me. They are as much a part of my grade school past as anything.

Let's take a look at some pictures of buses. Please go to the next section.

Buses in Pictures

Here are a bunch of bus types in general. I'll try to feature as many as I can. I will try to find replacement images in case I can't use any of them (for reasons such as copyright).

School Buses.

school bus
^ from: myersequip.com - Time to go to school, kiddies!

A few times back in my grade school days, I missed the bus. Or the bus just didn't show up. At least you know what bus was coming when you saw something big and yellow driving through your neighborhood each weekday morning and each weekday afternoon. Manufacturers of school buses include (but are not limited to) Pioneer, Bluebird, Ford, and GMC among many others. Their job (obviously) is to carry school students to and from school. Usually there are certain bus routes that are followed so that individuals can safely go from a bus stop location to the bus.

Shuttle Buses.

shuttle bus
^ from: www.blogdenuevayork.es (best I could find) - Shuttle buses don't carry as many people, but they still are viable forms of transportation to get people to places for most places that aren't too far away.

Shuttle buses may not carry as many people as school buses or commercial buses, but shuttle buses still accomplish the task of getting across many people safely from place to place. The majority of shuttle buses usually can be seen carrying people from shuttle bus stations to airports. Some others safely take people from one place to another. A vast majority of shuttle buses are also customizable commercial vehicles. For example, you could have a Ford Transit or a Ford F-650 with a bus body attached to it to serve as a shuttle bus. They may also be commercial vans that serve as shuttle buses.

To be honest, I didn't even think about shuttle buses for this topic initially because I focused so much on bigger buses.

City Buses.

city bus
^ from: (YouTube) - Want to get around the city but don't have a car (or prefer walking)? Get on a city bus!

A number of major cities have their own bus lines. We have METRO here in Houston. These buses can even be driving advertisements with a number of promotions on them. Europe has some very stylish buses from the likes of AM General, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, SCANIA, MAN Truck and Bus, SETRA, and more. I am not sure how some of these European offerings would fare here in the United States, but these are some stylish buses that operate in Europe. Some city buses even allow access for handicapped access. Some cities have taken on initiatives to provide cleaner and more efficient buses for use. So some buses are powered by alternative fuels or are cleaner in emissions. Some city buses may even have perks such as Wi-Fi access and more. Some city buses are of decent length while certain others have an extended section attached to a bus to allow for more people to ride. Either way, their goal is to safely carry loads of people around town on roads and highways.

Charter Buses.

charter buses
^ from: www.hismajestycoach.com (best I could find) - Stylishly enjoy riding in style by riding in a charter bus.

Charter buses are almost the equivalent of riding in a passenger plane. These buses were designed to get people to places in style. What makes charter buses different is that they are very luxurious inside. Some even have things like televisions, Wi-Fi access, and more. Think of this more like first class bus riding. Charter buses can range from stylishly carrying people to even carrying around business and performers. They can go around town or even across the country.

Double-Decker Buses.

double decker bus
^ from: sciencehistorylover.wordpress.com - Need to carry around MANY more people? A double-decker bus might do the job.

If a city has loads of people or if many people want to get around town, a regular bus won't do. So go double-decker! Many people will immediately think of cities like London and Hong Kong (but especially London) in regards to double-decker buses. I've never been on or seen a double-decker bus in person, but I'm pretty sure that they do the job in carrying around loads more people and with not as short of length. Double decker buses handle about double the amount of passengers as an extended bus, but they are taller than very long buses.

Tour Buses.

tour buses
^ from: www.dayoutinlondon.com - Why not take a tour by taking a ride on a tour bus?

Tour buses are not only fun to be on, but also great for tourism. These tour buses offer a fun form of transportation for entertainment.

Promotional Buses.

promotional buses
^ from: rockbandaide.com - Some buses, such as this one, are decked out in unique livery mostly for promotion or for certain music groups, businesses, and the like.

So you now have a look at buses. I may feature more content based on this post's popularity or if I want to contribute more to this topic.

Bonus Videos!

Because I love you people, how about some bonus material? I found for you some bus videos! Enjoy the following:

I actually tried to find a decent school bus video, but considering the average audience of my blog, I was unable to find a decent one. So I'll leave it up to you to find a school bus video on YouTube if you are interested: "school bus" search results on YouTube.

I also tried to find a basic video featuring shuttle buses, but the only ones I could come across are conversions of shuttle buses. However, I did find THIS video which should interest you in regards to shuttle buses:

Alfa Romeo 4C

John B. Marine | 7/22/2016 03:28:00 AM | | Be the first to comment!
The Alfa Romeo 4C is a gorgeous automobile. It is an inexpensive sports car with beautiful exotic style and fine performance. It looks more expensive than its $55K USD really is. As part of Alfa Romeo's return to the United States, this is surely a car to really arouse the souls of those seeking an appealing and enticing sports car. While it may not be a car with ridiculous power or top speed, it is a very good car simply about the joy of performance driving. People have seen this like a baby Ferrari. To me, it's more like an Italian Lotus. Draw your own visual commentary on this car with this picture:

Alfa Romeo 4C
^ from: (YouTube) - The Alfa Romeo 4C is a truly enticing sports car priced between about $55K USD.

The Alfa Romeo 4C's performance characteristics are pretty good. It is a car with a curb weight of 2465 lbs. (or 1118 kg). It has an Inline-4 Turbo engine producing 237hp and 258 lb. ft. of torque. The 4C gets from 0-60 mph in about 4.1 seconds, and it can go down the quarter mile in about 11 seconds at an rounded 107 mph. I think its braking from 60 to 0 is in about 97 feet if I recall from my pre-post research.

To give you some perspective on the Alfa Romeo 4C, here is a video for you:

^ "2015 Alfa Romeo 4C: The Most Affordable Supercar! - Ignition Ep 113"

I think Alfa Romeo did a fine job with this car. There aren't too many Alfa Romeo cars I disliked. I certainly don't dislike this one. It is almost as if Alfa Romeo's vision was to cram as much supercar panache into as small a package as possible and make it "affordable." I would love to see one of these in person. In addition to a hardtop, there is also a convertible version. Admit it, readers... you want this car! :)

From America's Alfa Romeo site, learn more about this car at Alfa Romeo 4C (USA Website).

This is a rare post I've done regarding a car. I retired the "Car Style" posts after consistent spam comments. So future attempts at these topics may be mostly brief while still providing my own commentary expressed in my own way. Of course, your reactions are always welcome. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Paradise Road

John B. Marine | 12/31/2015 11:07:00 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Paradise Road is an online forum all about performance and automotive awesomeness. It is mostly devoted to classic American cars in points around the United Kingdom in car shows and in racing events. The online community has been around since 2002. It is run by a fellow named Shaun Middleton. I've seen everything from classic American cars to even things like an eight-second Bentley drag race car to a Volvo funny car. Personally, I am always compelled about this deal because I become ever so intrigued at just how much American cars are sought after and admired in the United Kingdom. It is because of this as to why I continue to be awed by the many different cars and such featured on Paradise Road.

If Shaun himself is reading this, I want to say that I am always compelled and interested in just how much American cars are sought after and admired in the United Kingdom. While I am not extremely biased of American cars, I do admire just how much these cars are liked and admired by you all on the side of the Atlantic Ocean. Even more fascinating is all the drag racing of these machines in the UK. It is of great pleasure to be exposed in this sort of way about American cars. Even too, the various non-American cars that show up in Paradise Road posts are great to watch. Simply put, you do a great job putting everything together, and contributions from other members is nothing short of amazing. Glad to check this material out and enjoy it. Still do to this day. Thank you for making this all possible.

Got Facebook and want to join in on the fun? Visit Paradise Road's Facebook Fan Page to join in on the Paradise Road awesomeness. Further love for Paradise Road can be shown on YouTube by subscribing to the Paradise Road YouTube channel.

Stars of Pleiades

John B. Marine | 10/04/2015 10:00:00 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
The Stars of Pleiades (also called the Seven Sisters) are seven bright stars. This star cluster is also called Messier 45 (or M45). You can find these stars in the Taurus constellation. They are 400 light years from Earth. Even though the Stars of Pleiades are known as the Seven Sisters, only six of the stars are visible to the human eye. I learned a lot in my research of this topic. The Pleiades are the seven daughters of Atlas in Greek Mythology who were turned into stars. The Stars of Pleiades consist of Atlas, Pleione, Alcyone/Halcyone, Merope, Maia, Electra/Eleckra, Celaena, Taygete/Taygeta, and Asterope/Sterope. Atlas and Pleione in Greek Mythology are not Pleiades.

Here is a picture I found online through a Google Images search to show you the Stars of Pleiades:

Stars of Pleiades
^ from: blog.al.com - The Stars of Pleiades.

And here is some video insight on the Stars of Pleiades:

^ "Seven Sisters or Pleiades (M45) - Deep Sky Videos"

Stars of Pleiades: Subaru.

If you are a fan of Subaru, you know their logo is based on these seven stars. Those seven stars of Subaru bear the Stars of Pleiades. If you know your Subaru cars, then you may know Subaru made one car called the Alcyone, which is also called the SVX. Here is a picture of that car bearing the same name as one of the Stars of Pleiades:

Subaru Alcyone SVX
^ from: www.tradebit.com - This is the Subaru Alcyone (also called the SVX). The Alcyone is named one of the Stars of Pleiades.

And here is some video insight on this car:

^ "MotorWeek | Retro Review: '91 Subaru SVX"

You probably have a hint about the Stars of Pleiades if you played Gran Turismo games and competed in the "Stars of Pleiades" events. If you like racing games (including the Gran Turismo series), I invite you to visit my racing/driving game blog called "John's Race Space."

So now you know about the Stars of Pleiades... and also gained some factoids about Subaru.

This blog post is over. I actually wanted to blog about the Stars of Pleiades for the longest. The post is now complete. Be sure to Subscribe and Follow my blog(s) to keep up with the latest posts. I appreciate you visiting my blog(s). Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

3D Printing

John B. Marine | 6/19/2015 05:28:00 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
3D printing offers so many unique opportunities. I once seen a set of videos regarding 3D printing, and the way it is presented makes us believe humans will be capable of producing items on their own without having to buy items from a store. A number of people have mostly made novelty items with 3D printers. However, can you imagine making things like tools, gadgets, even... (according to one YouTube comment I read) a human heart? The possibilities seem endless as to what a 3D printer could actually print. Do not expect this to be a professional post regarding 3D printing. Instead, think of this as a post simply mentioning 3D printing.

--- 3D Printing ---

Here are a few pictures to set up this post:

3D printer consumer
^ from: www.amazon.com - Here is a consumer-level home 3D printer. All you need is a 3D printer and some filament to create almost anything your heart desires.

3D printer large
^ from: imaterialize.com - This is a larger, more advanced 3D printer capable of producing larger models than most in-home 3D printers. Some companies and factories have larger 3D printers than in this picture.

The power of 3D printing will allow people to create things themselves as opposed to having to go to stores to buy things. It is possible people can use a 3D printer to create things or even create things to their own specifications. Certain items that can be purchased in stores or made with any sort of usual welding or such could be made with a 3D printer. People often imagine creating any number of items with a 3D printer. As the technology becomes more accessible to average consumers, the sky is the limit as to what one can create with a 3D printer.

According to the Wikipedia entry on 3D printing, the history of 3D printing dates back to 1984. Most of 3D printing then mostly pertained to prototyping certain items. Fast forward to 2015 to see 3D printing gaining more steam on the consumer level. You can actually purchase a 3D printer to build any number of items for (according to my research for this topic) as much as $2.2K US Dollars. 3D printed material created with consumer-level 3D printers could range from novelty toys to any number of useful tools. Larger 3D printers can make more advanced materials ranging from synthetic body parts to even things like cars and houses. More advanced 3D printers can be found at various warehouses and with specific firms.

The Inner Workings of 3D Printing.

How does 3D printing start? A lot of the early creation of 3D printed models begin either with various drawings or certain material made on computers. Some of the files are *.STL format files, and there are also a lot of CAD drawings for various 3D models. I read it is also possible for the well-respected *.OBJ 3D model format can be used in the creation of 3D printed models. Microsoft has its own proprietary format for 3D printing called 3MF. Learn more about 3MF here: Microsoft Unleashes the 3MF File Format for 3D Printing, Launches 3MF Consortium.

If you want an idea of various 3D Printing material that you can get online, here is a resource for you: 3D Printer.

Perspective on 3D Printing.

All (or almost all) the perspective you need on 3D printing can be seen in this video. You may take a look at it (or click on the link to view on YouTube), or you may advance to the next section for more discussion of 3D printing. I must warn you that about the second half of this video may feature an element of 3D printing that can be scary or discomforting should people want to make certain kinds of items featured in the second half of this video. You have been warned:

^ "3D Printing: Make anything you want"

I provided this video for you to get an idea of 3D printing. In the next section, all of my own commentary and thoughts on 3D printing will be shared.

--- 3D Printing and Consumer Usage ---

It is time to discuss a little more about 3D printing and all the nuances involved. You are welcome to take a look.

What Others are Saying About 3D Printing.

Here are some resources online to help you think about 3D printing further:

How 3D printing will radically change the world - CNBC
How 3D printing is building a new future - ZDNet

These two articles express a bit of what is possible with 3D printers and what all could be created with 3D printers.

A 3D Car?

In 2014, a remarkable breakthrough in 3D printing came about when Chandler, Arizona, USA's Local Motors made their first 100% 3D printed car called the Strati. Creating such a car provides the possibility that almost anyone can create their own car from scratch and be able to drive and use it effectively. Granted this was an electric vehicle that doesn't go very fast, it does exhibit the possibilities of creating cars without needing to go to some dealer. You also could print your own car based on a series of different drawings and such. Local Motors claimed that by creating individual parts of 3D printed cars, an actual car you can drive can be completed in about 44 hours. Here is a piece showcasing Local Motors' 3D car:

^ "World's First 3D Printed Car Constructed In Chicago"

YouTube comments on this creation range from "let's see crash test data" to something along the lines of "this car is ugly." Of course, a lot of the same sick people on YouTube enjoyed the possibility of 3D printing their own sex toys. Go figure. Anyhow, nobody said that the Strati was meant to be something that will devastate the automobile world. Just the fact that it is possible to create your own drivable car completely from 3D printers offers some hope for the future of making your own car rather than look for proper automobiles from proper automakers. Local Motors came up with another project called the Aeroblade concept as part of a design challenge for IMTS (International Manufacturing Technology Show) 2014. The Aeroblade is a case study in making a much safer and more sturdy 3D printed car. In addition, elements of aerodynamics and appearance are also considerable elements in the design of 3D cars. To learn more about the Aeroblade, take a look at this link: Aeroblade | Local Motors.

Though the Local Motors Strati is the first completely 3D printed car, it wasn't the very first one. There was a car made a few years before the Strati called the URBEE that was made through 3D printing. The URBEE was developed back around 2013 in the Canadian province of Manitoba. This video I've provided offers a little perspective on the URBEE:

^ "3D Printed Car Creator Discusses Future of the Urbee"

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED... Here is an article you can read about the URBEE: Stratasys 3D Printers Build Urbee, First Prototype Car to Have Entire Body Created with an Additive Process.

Despite the prospect of 3D printed cars, the biggest concern is on making them safe and useful. Should you wreck a 3D printed car, you'll either have to try to rebuild it yourself or order a new model. There isn't as much practicality to these 3D printed cars as of yet. As with any technology or technological advances, one can be sure 3D printing technology will further evolve. That even includes making 3D printed cars safer and more sturdy. Maybe perhaps even making them faster and more powerful. Automobile development eventually reached the level that it is at today. Who is to say that 3D printed cars may eventually reach the same level of build quality and performance as proper automobiles?

If you found this part of this section interesting regarding this 3D car, I am considering doing a separate blog post in regards to the Local Motors Strati. So be sure to Subscribe and Follow "John's Blog Space" to see a future post on this car should it materialize.

A Dark Reality of 3D Printing...

You can make almost anything when it comes to various consumer items. As a scary-but-true reality... that even includes weapons. Giving most people the power to create almost anything can even include making items intended or designed to hurt others or damage property. The most tech-savvy person could be able to design weapons or other items with 3D printers and use them against others

--- 3D Printing: Final Thoughts ---

It used to be that we could only print things in 2D and not be capable of producing lifelike items. MUCH different story in this day and age with 3D printers. It is surreal how one is able to create almost anything with a 3D printer. Even as children, many of us envisioned being able to create our own items. In an even more surreal sense, there is fear in being able to create almost anything- including weapons. Being able to spend at least a half-hour to any number of hours creating certain 3D models is enough to create any number of items. The fact it is possible useful material can be created through 3D printers offers up new possibilities to help make life better or anything of that nature. Pardon the cliché, but the possibilities are endless with 3D printing. And as the technology becomes more accessible to consumers, printing 3D material may end up taking less time to create models or perhaps even cost much less and be more efficient in making models. Only time will tell.

Take Your Pick: Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini?

John B. Marine | 9/25/2013 03:54:00 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Three legendary marques. Three companies that make incredible cars. Three companies that make dream cars for many people. Which of these three exotic car makers would you take over the others? For the first time ever, "Take Your Pick" features more than two items. If you had to choose between cars from any of these companies, which would you take: Ferrari? Porsche? Or Lamborghini?

Let's begin another post on John's Blog Space!

--- Take Your Pick: Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini? ---

Ferrari Porsche and Lamborghini
^ Ferrari. Porsche. Lamborghini. Which is the best to you?

A car is designed to take people from one place to another safely and faster than back when mostly horses carried people around. I hate thinking of exotic cars as "luxury" cars; but in practice, cars from the three aforementioned car companies are considered luxury cars. You don't need to have cars with such exaggerated performance. But for many people, Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini represent the omegas of automobile transport.

Why would one even want to be around cars from these manufacturers? Well, the reasons vary among automotive enthusiasts and those highly conscious of status. The word "status" is perhaps the biggest factor. Owning something you rarely see on the road is always something to be proud of. In the case of these three car companies being mentioned here, you really say a lot when you get to own a car from Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini. It means you are either very rich and/or very appreciative of automobiles. Some [mostly middle-class] people would mostly feel confused as to why someone would buy or own a car that cost as much as their houses. At least two of the three companies unveiled super-expensive and super-powerful automobiles. Ferrari recently unveiled their "LaFerrari" machine with unreal performance. Lamborghini followed suit with a car that costs nearly three times as much as LaFerrari with the Lamborghini Veneno. Porsche's latest beast machine is the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Now a little more on each respective company. The links in each heading point you to their official sites.

Ferrari.

Ferrari is iconic for being fast cars with amazing performance and beautiful-sounding engine noise. They are synonymous with high performance and high speed. You know what kind of company you're talking about when you see a prancing horse on a yellow shield. Some of the most recent offerings from Ferrari include the F12 Berlinetta and the demonic "LaFerrari." When I first got into cars around 1998, one car I was excited about was the 360 Modena. I still think that is a beautiful car even today. It only lacked sufficient power to make them any more awesome.

Ferrari is one of the greatest marques in motorsport. Many people immediately think of Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1 regards to Ferrari racing. They also have a great history in the ranks of GT and sports car racing. There is no denying the appeal Ferrari has had both in road cars and in race cars. Outside of the high-end racing series involvement, Ferrari is well-known today for their Ferrari Challenge series. There are different Ferrari Challenge series worldwide.

Their success in both road-going and racing cars remain strong even to this day.

(SOME OF) MY PERSONAL FAVORITE FERRARIS:250 GTO, Dino 246 GTS, 288 GTO, Testarossa, 360 Modena, F430, 599 series, 612 Scaglietti, California, F12 Berlinetta, P4/5
(SOME OF) MY PERSONAL FAVORITE RACING FERRARIS:, 330 P4, 333SP (my all-time favorite race car), FXX series, 599XX, 360 Modena Ferrari Challenge Car, F430 Ferrari Challenge Car

Porsche.

Porsche has always been the peoples' sports car maker. Nothing is more iconic in car design than the usual side profile of a Porsche. The elegant swooping profile of a Porsche gives most traditional Porsches their unique personality and performance. While the company based in Stuttgart, Germany makes some of the finest sports cars in the world, their attainability and usefulness far outclass the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. For example, the cheapest newest Porsche you can buy is the base Porsche Boxster, which sells for just over $50K US Dollars. There have been a handful of relatively inexpensive Porsche models such as the Porsche 924 and the Porsche 928. They are also a very practical company with cars such as the Panamera and the Cayenne. So while they make some of the finest pure sports cars money can buy, you don't have to pay too much to enjoy the sheer essence and prestige of owning a Porsche.

To really appreciate Porsche, you must account for their racing heritage. Almost every traditional sportscar racing series has at least one Porsche being raced. The 917 and 962 are two of the all-time greatest Porsche racing cars. The 550A Spyder is one of the most beautiful racing Porsches ever created, and it will always be immortalized with the tragedy of James Dean. You also have the infamous 935/78- commonly nicknamed "Moby Dick" for its whale tail design at the rear. Porsche has even raced in Indy Car racing as well as competing in the Indy 500. They used a March Indy chassis to house their Porsche engine to compete in this level of racing.

There are various Porsche Cup series around the world for those who want to enjoy racing Porsches on some of the world's finest race tracks. They are the best way to enjoy racing Porsches. There used to be a fine event here in the United States called the Porsche Rennsport Reunion featuring Porsches past and present racing on one track in one special weekend. I am not sure if that's still being run or not. The last Porsche Rennsport Reunion was at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in October 2011.

Lamborghini.

The prancing bull of Lamborghini represents some of the most demonic and lustful supercars in the world. While Lamborghini is known today for their ultra-powerful automobiles, their very first Lambo was the rather modest (by today's standards) 350 GT. The profile of Lamborghini was ramped up with the absolutely beautiful Miura later in the 1960s. Then along came machines like the Countach. Lamborghini is mostly synonymous with wide, low, and powerful supercars. It is almost as if you're selling your soul to the devil climbing into a Lamborghini. Despite their supercars, they did come up with one of the oddest machines ever- the Lamborghini LM002. The LM002 was a military-type SUV that rivaled the Hummer H1. Lamborghini is planning a new SUV called the Urus as of the date of this initial blog post.

What about Lamborghini's racing history? If anything, Lamborghini lacks a significant racing history compared to both Ferrari and Porsche. I only know their racing for GT racing and the Formula 1 cars that had Lamborghini V12s. When it comes to tuning and racing Lamborghinis, only one group is the finest of them all- Reiter Engineering.

(SOME OF) MY PERSONAL FAVORITE LAMBORGHINIS: Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago, Reventón, Aventador, Estoque (never produced)

So now you know about the three car companies. Time to make the case for the each of the companies to make up this Take Your Pick.

--- Making the Case ---

It is time to make the case for each item of this "Take Your Pick."

Making the Case: Why Ferrari?

Ferrari makes some of the most lustful and most distinctive cars. You know a Ferrari when you drive and see one. You know what you're getting when you drive or own a Ferrari. Rarely does a Ferrari disappoint in offering driving experiences compared to other cars.

Making the Case: Why Porsche?

Even though they don't make the most ultra-powerful and ultra-exclusive cars, Porsche at least is a car company that offers capable and practical automobiles. Think about the portfolio Porsche offers- a handful of sports cars (including a four-door sports car- the Panamera), some sporty roadsters, and a high-performance SUV. So maybe Porsche isn't a car company that could care about making the world's fastest and most powerful supercars. But if you care about a distinctive car company making distinctive cars with distinctive character no matter which model in the range you drive or own, Porsche has you covered.

Making the Case: Why Lamborghini?

The wildest dreams of most automotive enthusiasts is to drive an absolutely demonic machine and feel as if the world is his/hers. You get that in a Lamborghini. Their cars absolutely personify demonic performance and style. Lamborghinis are truly lustful. Owning and driving a Lamborghini is totally character-inducing. If racing heritage means a lot to you, then prepare to be disappointed with Lamborghini on that front. Even still, there is no denying the appeal and charm of a Lamborghini.

Ferrari vs. Porsche vs. Lamborghini?

Personally, I am a HUGE Ferrari fan. I would likely take a Ferrari over a Porsche or a Lamborghini. I certainly will not be over a Murciélago or an Aventador any time soon. While I've never been too crazy over Porsche, you can't argue against what Porsche offers for all kinds of automotive enthusiasts. Even without some sort of halo car that trumps the fastest Ferrari or the fastest Lamborghini, there is just something about Porsche that makes me overly respectful and admirable of Porsche and what all they offer to many people with many different tastes and needs in what a high-performance car should be.

In other words- I'm a Ferrari fan that chooses Porsche over both Ferrari and Lamborghini. I love Ferrari, but there's something about Porsche that makes you appreciate it much more despite the offerings of Ferrari and Lamborghini. There is a certain character to Porsche that makes me more respectful of Porsche than Ferrari and Lamborghini. This has nothing to do with which has the most powerful and most capable cars. I just think the better overall portfolio and range favors Porsche than the other two companies. Being a Ferrari fan that chose Porsche over Ferrari and Lamborghini is something we like to call... flipping the script.
