The ICON A5 is a fascinating plane. How so? Imagine a recreational light plane that you can fly in the air or even on water. Those who played Microsoft Flight Simulator X may have heard of it (and flown it). Some people even have called the ICON A5 as the "Tesla of planes." Because I was so fascinated about this aircraft, I decided to do a blog post on it. I'll introduce this light plane to you fine folks who read my blog.
I have done a handful of blog posts on cars and motorcycles, but never really any on planes. So you're going to experience another wrinkle in my "anything and everything" collection of topics. Welcome to another "John's Blog Space" post!
ICON A5
Here is a look at the ICON A5:
^ from: dailymaill.co.uk - The ICON A5 may be your dream light plane if you want to enjoy flight in the air... and even on water.
(NOTE: Most specifications on this plane were taken from ICON Aircraft's website)
The A5 is a light plane from California's ICON Aircraft. ICON Aircraft was founded in 2005 and is based in Vacaville, California, USA- northeast of San Francisco and west-southwest of Sacramento. The ICON A5 was in development for a number of years. A prototype of the A5 was created in 2008, and its production version was officially unveiled in 2014. People who are familiar with Microsoft Flight Simulator X may have heard of the ICON A5, and perhaps even flown it in the game. The ICON A5 was designed to take advantage of certain changes to FAA regulations allowing for recreational/sport flying. Here in the United States, you can earn a sport license for completing 20 hours of aviation training. If you want to enjoy recreational flight, ICON may have you covered. ICON Aircraft also has its own page regarding sport flying and how to earn a sport pilot license (SPL) here: Sport Flying - ICON Aircraft.
The ICON A5 has somewhat of a car-like appearance to it. Its interior is especially car-like. The interior is actually somewhat a cross between a car-like cockpit and a bit also like a luxury motorcycle interior. The front half of this machine is very futuristic in design. The back half is a bit funky in design, almost like it was sort of tacked onto the back of the plane. Yet still, it is beautifully aerodynamic. It is powered by a ROTAX 912 engine that produces 100 horsepower. It has a top speed of 95 KCAS (knots calibrated airspeed), or about 109 mph (176 kph). It has a flight range of about 427nm and a 45 minute reserve. It can run on 91 Octane Auto or 100LL Aviation gas. In case a flight all goes wrong, the A5 even has a parachute to it.
Among the many features is its ability to be a great plane to fly in the air and even on water. You can actually fold the wings of the plane and put it on a trailer, so you will able to take this plane almost anywhere you want. You'd better have something big enough to house it, though. You would probably need a barn, an appropriate steel building, or a proper hangar to house it. Also consider its dimensions- it is some 8.1 ft. (or 2.47m) tall and 23 ft. (or 7.01m) long.
Do you want your own ICON A5? The estimated base price of the ICON A5 is about $189K US Dollars and may climb up to almost $250K US Dollars. As of the date of this original blog post (December 25, 2015), delivery of any ordered A5 models will begin in the third quarter of 2019. To me, I find this plane to be immensely fascinating. I was drawn to this plane because of its wonderful design. The fact this plane costs about as much as a fairly decent supercar is pretty good for someone who enjoys cars as well as flight. I have personally never been on a plane or flown a plane. If it were possible, it would be cool to sit in this plane and see what it is like to be in it in flight. I would not think of this plane as any kind of status symbol thing, even though it would be pretty cool to own and use one of these. It wouldn't surprise me if other creators of light planes come up with their own light plane and sport planes offering to challenge the ICON A5 and even allow more people to enjoy flying.
Video Preview.
I found this video for your enjoyment. How cool would it be to fly the ICON A5? Check out this video as the ICON A5 takes flight in New York City:
Looks like fun, huh? Who wouldn't want to enjoy doing something like this in a place like New York City?

Pilotwings took SNES gamers to the skies. Released in 1990 and 1991 for the Super Nintendo, the original Pilotwings made aerial sports cool. Clearing the various lessons takes practice to become a master. So are you ready to take to the skies and prove your worth? If you answered "yes," then this blog post offers my thoughts on one of Nintendo's classic franchises. and ones of the SNES' most respected games- Pilotwings.
--- Pilotwings ---
Pilotwings was released in 1991. The game consists of a number of aerial challenges for you to try and clear. The various flight mechanics and aerial mechanics helped make Pilotwings such a well-loved game among many gamers. The series would garner subsequent sequels including Pilotwings 64 and Pilotwings Resort. But before those came along, there was the classic Pilotwings for the Super Nintendo (or Super Famicom). This game took advantage of the Mode 7 graphics that made SNES games look so great. You actually feel like you are flying and landing on realistic terrain instead of some boring-looking 2D flat land. Being able to engage in a number of aerial activities lends itself to the success of this game.
Now on to the finer points of Pilotwings.
The Aircraft.
Pilotwings has four different kinds of ways to enjoy taking to the skies. Here are the four main ones:
• Fly in a Light Plane. Exercises here consist of various aerial maneuvers as well as learning to land the plane.
• From way above, take part in Skydiving. Clear various gates and then properly engage your parachute to make a solid landing. Where you land will earn you a good number of points.
• Try flying with the Rocketbelt. Here, you must clear a set of items and then land in the finish run to complete your run. Points will be deducted if you touch the ground while flying. When all checkpoints are cleared, return to the landing zone to complete the run.
• In Hangglider, your goal is to fly into a certain zone and land safely at the landing zone.
Those are the four main flight exercises. You take on different other aerial missions in other kinds of craft, especially helicopter missions. It is also possible to take on bonus challenges. Once you get certified through each set of missions, you will be given a number. That six-digit number is your Password so you can continue your career in Pilotwings. Remember those passwords!
The Zones and Gameplay.
Pilotwings consists of four basic exercise zones and an individual mission. What you want to do is clear each mission with as high of a score as possible. The combined score from all of the different exercises will determine whether or not you will advance to the next level. If you fail to score enough points, you will have to try that level again until you score enough points to advance to the next level. Even if you fail to score enough points, you can still try any other exercises mainly for practice. But of course, you can simply opt out and try again if you fail to score enough points in your previous run.
Not every zone has every kind of flying exercise. It is important to know what it is you have to do and to note the various landing zones for each exercise. You will need to practice each exercise if you are not as adept on each one.
When you clear all the missions, you will be granted the opportunity to play Pilotwings Extra- featuring all of the original missions, but in more difficult settings than the original set of missions (for example, trying to land a Light Plane on an icy runway or in heavy winds).
--- Pilotwings: Final Thoughts ---
Pilotwings for the Super Nintendo is a classic for a reason. This was a game that made aerial maneuvers fun. The individual challenges provide a good amount of replay value. While you can't go back to them after completing them, there is still plenty of enjoy for this classic SNES title. Even if you are not a dedicated classic gamer, you owe it to yourself to play and experience "Pilotwings" and what all made it as one of Nintendo's fine franchises.
This is either a new experience or old memories for some of you.
Get Pilotwings!

Speed Channel will become FOX Sports 1. Fuel TV will become FOX Sports 2. This will be a most sad deal for fans of (respectively) motorsports and action sports. The main hub for FOX Sports will be FOX Sports 1- which will dissolve Speed Channel. With Speed Channel's departure, the television voice of motorsports will be silenced forever. That is... unless someone starts a new dedicated motorsports network. This blog post is my own sort of opinions regarding FOX Sports 1... at the expense of Speed Channel.
This is going to be a lot of reading, but I have MANY thoughts to share here in my blog post.
LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):
AUG 20 2013 - made some edits; added another section
--- Remembering Speedvision and Speed Channel ---
Let's set the mood with a picture:
^ from: (FOX Sports 1's Twitter feed) - FOX Sports 1. It will replace Speed Channel. You will sorely miss Speed Channel if you are in any capacity opposed to FOX Sports 1. Get to know FOX Sports 1 by visiting the FOX Sports 1 page.
Before I offer my thoughts on Speed Channel becoming FOX Sports 1, let me share with you an article someone posted online and shared in an online forum:
"Speed's owner, Fox Sports, has decided there is more money to be had in a multisport channel. It will shutter the motorsports channel and convert it into Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 17.
The move brings an end to Speed's nearly 18-year reign as the only motorsports channel on U.S. television. The move takes Charlotte's only national cable channel dark. And it eliminates the only place in NASCAR's backyard where people could spend their entire day talking about and working exclusively on TV motorsports.
Speed did not offer the best-paying jobs in cable. It was not the most-watched network in sports. But it was a place where people lived their passion - an office where Formula One wonks, motorcycle gearheads, NASCAR nuts and car-collection zealots gathered daily to determine how their passions played across the country.
Speed paid staff with a different type of currency - the type of stuff former Speed President Hunter Nickell called "psychic income."
"It's what made it exciting and fun, so when the end comes, it's deflating," said Nickell, who's now with IMG College. "That isn't questioning the business decision. The business decision makes sense.""
Just on some of the material alone in what I quoted, you can tell what passion was put into providing a proper home and forum for motorsports and automobiles and for how long. What Speedvision and Speed Channel have provided was a proper TV outlet for fans of both cars and racing. Racing fans whom have loved Speed Channel and dislike this FOX Sports 1 package would gladly love to see FS1 fail.
The Speedvision Days.
There was a reason why I wanted Speedvision- a variety of racing action that no other network could provide. I was a budding sportscar racing fan that got into racing in 1998. For as much as ESPN/ABC and TNN (then known as The Nashville Network, later became The National Network some time in 2001, now known as Spike TV) provided auto racing coverage, many of the kinds of racing I was longing to see was nowhere to be found. Speedvision had it, and I was glad to finally get to enjoy Speedvision starting in about 2000. I saw my first-ever 24 Hours of Le Mans live in 2001. I loved the heck out of Speedvision for its variety of content and its various car shows. The various car shows even include coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and the various modern and classic cars that show up on the auction block. It was even great seeing what was then called "Speedvision World Challenge"- great high-level racing featuring touring cars and GT cars. I was even introduced to events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival among MANY other racing events. Even though it was not motorsports, I even liked watching luge during the Speedvision days. Besides automobiles, Speedvision even had shows for fans who loved airplanes and watercraft (boats, jet skis, powerboats, etc.). It was a channel that really cared about motorsports and almost anything with a motor.
I also adored Speedvision because I was getting rather tired of NASCAR. Then a bit in 2001, there was a slight shift over to NASCAR coverage. Then in 2002, Speedvision would relaunch from Speedvision to Speed Channel, and would move its coverage from Connecticut to Charlotte, NC. Enter...
The Speed Channel Days.
It was in 2002 when Speed Channel launched, providing much more racing coverage; but it would also have much more NASCAR influence. The channel still remained true to its roots in providing a variety of racing coverage. Speed Channel to racing was like what MTV used to be to music. Even with more reality shows and other material other than racing, even with more NASCAR and other kinds of Americana racing, Speed Channel has been the premier motorsports TV voice for 11 or 12 years. There is better dedication and love of racing expressed by Speed and their many personalities that ESPN/ABC could never equal or better. The car material was even great with shows like "Pinks," "Pinks All-Out," "Test Drive," and more. There were also other shows and such like "Gearz," "Truck U," "My Classic Car" (which used to be on TNN), "Unique Whips," "Wrecked," "Forza Motorsport Showdown," "Street Tuner Challenge," and more. Even shows featuring the late Tom Hnatiw were on, like "Dream Car Garage" and "Sports Car Revolution." The Speedvision World Challenge then became Speed World Challenge with the new Speed Channel. Among many of the original programs were two very popular shows that kept racing fans connected weekly- "SPEED Center" and "Wind Tunnel With Dave Despain."
Different programs started coming and going throughout the entirety of Speed Channel, even including rights to show certain races. NBC and the NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) took over for Formula 1 racing after Speed was the main TV home. Speed Channel aired loads of American Le Mans Series races before ESPN/ABC took over. Speed Channel used to air a lot of AMA Superbike racing, but the coverage has mostly shifted over to CBS Sports Network (formerly CSTV (College Sports Television). None of these were really big signs that Speed's concentration on motorsports coverage was dying. One time earlier this year, Speed Channel was one of various FOX networks to air a game of the English Premier League. To the dismay of many motorsports fans, vented at Speed Channel for something other than racing. People on Facebook even got on Speed Channel's Facebook fan page venting their frustration at Speed showing a traditional stick-and-ball sport on a channel about motorsports. With all due respect, if I wanted to see traditional stick-and-ball sports, I'd watch a channel or two dedicated proper to those sports. Don't force-feed me stick-and-ball sports on a racing channel. Even as I was enjoying Speed for what it is, imagine how I felt when news of FOX Sports 1 came along. So...
Enter FOX Sports 1.
This is the channel to compete with ESPN and others in the premier general sports network market. It all seems like a money grab just so FOX could better profit with sports besides with the regional FOX Sports channels. I was someone on Facebook who said that I was okay with FOX wanting to make this general sports channel. What I WASN'T happy with, however, was this channel coming at the expense of Speed Channel.
FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 (which will replace FUEL TV) will still air racing on the networks. Just that this will be motorsports coverage mixed in with other sports.
(ADDED: August 20, 2013)
FS1's UFC coverage from its opening night raked in 1.78M viewers. This was told to be 10 times greater than the combined audience of Speed Channel, FOX Soccer Channel, and FUEL TV. The viewership among the 18-49 demographic for FS1 was reportedly 25 times greater than the combined audience of Speed, FOX Soccer Channel, and FUEL TV; and also 40 times greater among adults in the 18-34 and men 18-34.
These are some of many memories I have of Speedvision and Speed Channel:
• seeing (then) Speedvision World Challenge and Speed World Challenge before the move to (then) Versus (now NBC Sports Network)
• seeing the (then) JGTC for the first time on television back in 2003 based on the 2002 season
• watching a mere GT Porsche win the 2003 24 Hours of Daytona in the debut of the Daytona Prototypes in 2003
• seeing series and shows like "Pinks" and Pinks - All Out."
• seeing Tom Kristensen pass Jacky Ickx for most outright Le Mans wins (I almost wanted to cry happy tears) in 2005
• (even though I didn't see it live) the epic farce that was the 2005 F1 United States Grand Prix
• the epic GT2 finish of the 2007 12 Hours of Sebring
• watching the first ever F1 night race with the Singapore Grand Prix
• seeing the unreal finale of the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix- Maasa wins race; Hamilton wins championship
• watching NASCAR Trucks race Eldora
• "Motorsport Mundial" and "Mobil 1: The Grid." 'Nuff said.
• I've LOVED the "Legends of Motorsport" and "Victory by Design" series.
• watching "On the Edge" and its amazing varied programs and races
These are all among many different TV memories I have from both Speedvision and Speed Channel. Maybe you fans have your own?

The dream of going anywhere in almost anything is something almost everyone has. I always wondered if humans could fly or venture off to wherever they choose. Technology has even played a role in perhaps more ways for humans to get around and go anywhere. Imagine your own sort of vehicle or other piece of equipment to help you get around to wherever you want to go. What would YOU have as your own personal sort of transportation? Do you think your own piece of equipment could even be offered to others interested? This blog post is a look at personal transport and what futuristic devices could possibly be created to help us go almost anywhere we wish.
Is there a dream vehicle or dream device you wish you had and used for your own personal transport? Don't answer this question- just think about it as you read this blog post.
--- Personal Transport ---
When most people think of personal mobility, most think about being handicapped or being bound to a wheelchair or motor scooter. The personal mobility I am discussing here pertains to vehicles you could use to go about life or go on your own motorized adventures. The one thing I tend to wonder about such devices is how you power them and maintain them. Do you need certain fuels to power these vehicles? Let me share with you some examples of personal transport. This will get the post going:
Toyota PM.
This blog post actually draws its inspiration from Toyota, who created a concept called the Toyota PM (Personal Mobility). It is a vehicle that has three different modes ranging from upright to a speedy configuration. My own form of personal transport is somewhat very inspired by the Toyota PM. You'll see later what I would want as my own personal form of transport.
Here is the Toyota PM:
^ from: psipunk.com - The Toyota PM (Personal Mobility) made its debut at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show.
Sweet, huh? To learn more about this concept car, have a look at this site: How the Toyota PM Works.
Jet Packs.
This is an example of a jetpack demonstration. You got to check this out (click on the link if you can not view video):
Many people (including myself) have always wondered about letting humans be able to fly. One of the most popular concepts is the jet pack. A jet pack if a device you wear like a backpack. And as you use it, you shoot yourself off the ground and into the air. You then use the controls to steer your weight around in the air and even move forward.
A number of video games have had some characters use jet packs to get around. Even in the Pilotwings games, there were Rocketbelt challenges. You really have to wonder where you would actually go and where you would actually use a jet pack, if they were commercially available.
If you want to see some jet pack (or jet pack) videos on YouTube, here are YouTube search results on jet packs: "jetpack" search results on YouTube.
Other Forms of Transportation.
There are some forms of transportation that are less extreme. Some vehicles and devices are meant to be more than suitable for going about on foot. These include vehicles meant for being in places like city parks, college campuses, malls, etc. Such vehicles can be futuristic means towards navigating around urban locales. The many different devices for personal transport range from scooters to motorcycles to unusually-designed cars.
These are only just two examples of personal transportation.
--- What Would Be YOUR Dream Personal Transportation? ---
My dream futuristic device would have to be something like the Toyota PM. Only that my own personal craft would have to also include modes to travel on water or even fly into the air. Such a device would be like my own escape pod. Also, it has to have a very durable glass door/windshield so I could confidently enjoy being on land, on water, or in the air. I'd prefer it to be my own personal transport, but part of me wants it to have maybe room for one or two passengers. Whether or not it could comfortably seat any more passengers is something I am not too concerning of.
I do want it to have some sort of space for carrying things. Maybe I would go out and buy something and want to have it home safely. I'm not saying bags of groceries, but more like maybe enough for a couple golf bags or something. Maybe a few pieces of heavy luggage. It has to be enough for me to carry around certain things I may carry.
It has to be able to fly if I want it to. I would like it if my dream vehicle could perform a vertical takeoff like a Harrier fighter jet. This could be helpful if I was caught up in traffic or had to bypass a train stopping traffic. I quite want this dream vehicle to be something to be my own personal form of transport to go about my adventures.
--- Personal Transport: Final Thoughts ---
Everyone has their own dream form of transport. We all know that most of our dream forms of transportation would never come to reality. It is always still great to dream regardless. Whether your dream transport device is a car, some kind of motorcycle, some futuristic pod, or whatever; you can only envision what kind of machine you want to have as your own personal form of transportation that you could live with and use in your life. You know what you want out of life as far as a consumer vehicle is involved. So therefore, you have a dream vehicle that you wish you can use as your primary and personal mode of transportation. Advances in technology make it seem possible for almost any technological thing to be possible. We would certainly build our own devices if we had the resources, finances, willpower, etc. But until we seem to be completely and legally able to make our own dream transportation devices, all we can do is just that- dream.
What would be your dream personal form of transportation? How would you use it? Thank you for reading! Have yourself an amazing day/night.

--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Flaunting Luxury ---
Where have you seen the rich show off their wealth? You may have seen a number of things on TV, online, in games, and more. So here are a few examples of where you may have seen people flaunt their wealth:
Hip-Hop Artists.
Name me certain hip-hop artists where you have seen them drive high-end cars. You may have seen videos of hip-hop artists driving cars you likely can't afford. Sometimes even rapping about them. You know- hot girls, hot cars, things like that.
MTV's "My Super Sweet Sixteen" and "Exiled."
"My Super Sweet Sixteen" and the one-off "Exiled" showcased teenagers and the rich lifestyles they enjoy. If you've ever seen these shows, you'll know what the young generation of rich is all about. If a 16-year old girl wants her own Lexus IS-F (especially in this show), she WANTS an Lexus IS-F even if she throws a hissy fit to get one. "Exiled" was a show where those spoiled teens who needed a dose of reality were sent to less glamourous places to take part in experiencing the life of the... not so rich. To read more on this show that I blogged about, check out "Issues Regarding My Super Sweet 16."
MTV's "Cribs" Series.
"Cribs," more than any other MTV show, is one of the premier examples of showcasing rich people. This series of shows highlights on the homes of celebrities. Some of these houses and mansions have stuff like... their own basketball courts, their own gyms, multi-car garages with several six-figure priced cars, lavish kitchens, beautiful master bedrooms, and stuff like that. Watching "Cribs" just makes you feel jealous that you can't be living like them!
Certain Celebrities.
You may hear of celebrities of many kinds having things many others who'll blow their money on various items. Why? Because they can.
Glamourous Locales.
The place that comes to mind for me (as a racing fan) is Monte Carlo. When you see the fancy buildings and all the boats in the various marinas, you're playing in money country. Some places really have people and buildings that just scream big money. I even think of Middle Eastern cities like Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Doha, Qatar that are essentially playgrounds for the rich.
The duPONT Registry.
If you ever flip through the pages of The duPONT Registry, you may see all kinds of dream items you wish you had. I blogged about this Florida-based publication once, noting that what you see and read are nothing short of impressive. Just the fact you can actually OWN this stuff if you had the money is just surreal.
Video Games.
If you can't live the luxurious lifestyle in reality, there's always virtual reality. The "Test Drive Unlimited" series is one that easily comes to mind. You may probably live on Oahu Island or Ibiza, but do you have high-end sports cars to drive and beautiful houses most people can only dream of owning? What about the "Need for Speed" games, where you drive some of the most exclusive cars in anger around city streets and race tracks? There are even various social networking and avatar games dedicated to the rich lifestyle (or with rich elements).
"Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."
If you're old enough to remember, you may remember a very old show hosted by Robin Leach called "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." This famous show highlights on people whom are living richly and famously. The featured persons are profiled in these segments on the show. In this day and age, I'd like to imagine what it would be like if some of today's rich were profiled. Some of the rich ones you commonly hear of today are Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and of course... Paris Hilton.
Can you name any other rich influences? I only named a few just to kick this blog post off.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Getting There ---
And I quote:
"If you ain't got no money, take your broke ass home!"
-"Glamourous," by Fergie featuring Ludacris
To reach high-end life, one has to reach that level of high-end living. You basically have to establish yourself as royalty. Have you yet reached an executive level where you are basically tops among everybody else? Are you someone who is just discontent with being "normal" or having a "normal" lifestyle?
Those who pursue an executive-style lifestyle will have to work for it. Being atop your profession and your craft is what we all wish we can do. Status comes with wealth. In no way am I a Business major or anything. Heck, I'm a blogger whose only income is Adsense checks and Amazon Associates revenue, and I'm even fortunate enough if I make ANYTHING. Being atop blogging as a profession means I have to establish myself so much to where I can make a decent living. You may be from a rich family or even inherit a lot of the wealth from a wealthy family. Still, you've got to earn everything you'll ever work for.
You may also just inherit lots of money from your family or whatever. It still takes a lot of work to maintain and expand upon that wealth.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Homes ---
Most of what I will make mention to involve mansions, but this can be about any luxurious house.
^ from: www.mymansion.com.au - If a man's home is his castle, having a mansion surely makes you king. And of course... a woman's home is her castle, making her queen.
Have you the desire to live in lovely digs to live in? Mansions are a great way to enjoy living in style. Some mansions even allow for facilities most homes wish they had access to in the same house. You remember I made mention to MTV's "Cribs" series? Some of the houses and mansions I've seen featured on Cribs are just crazy. Can you imagine having your own gym and pool and such in your mansion? You don't even need to go to the gym- you can work out at home in style!
Also, one would have to think about how to furnish such mansions. You don't necessarily have to think of IKEA or something. If you obviously have a lot of money to furnish it with almost anything, items ranging from high-definition TVs to the most lavish chairs and sofas will easily fill most luxurious homes. Some luxurious homes (especially very modern and contemporary ones) feature great architecture befitting of such urban homes.
The location of luxurious homes and apartments also plays to their appeal. Is a luxurious home situated atop a hill? Is it near a major body of water? Is it within distance of downtown or even overlooking downtown? In addition, where in the world it is located also plays to its appeal. Is it a Southern home that's part of a plantation? Is it an urban locale in a major American city (like a fancy home in or around New York City)? Is it a contemporary home in Europe? This would all depend on your tastes in what kind of luxurious home you'd want to have.
Bedrooms.
The master bedroom of most regular homes are more like regular rooms in most mansions, and the real master bedroom may even be double to triple in size of a master bedroom.
Closets.
"I like my money right where I can see it... hanging in my closet."
-Carrie Bradshaw of "Sex and the City"
^ from: seasonalhomedecoration.com - Walk-in closets can be very luxurious and inviting, especially for those who have lots of clothes or a vast wardrobe.
Especially if you're one of my female readers, what fashion-loving girl wouldn't want a walk-through closet filled with great clothes? You can proudly show off your shoes and your clothes to guests or just admire your collection. There are those who have walk-in closets. Even some regular size houses and apartments may have such big closets.
Mansion Video.
Want to see a video of a mansion? Check this out:
This video above was uploaded in 2009 and was Donald Trump's $125M US dollar mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, USA.
How Would I Live?
I don't know if Houston would be good enough to have a great mansion of my own in. Here in Houston, we have two real expensive parts of town- the Houston Galleria and River Oaks. I draw inspiration from certain other mansions and what I would want in a mansion. One mansion I saw playing "Test Drive Unlimited 2" had both a living room and a garage that had waterfalls to them. I would like to have some lovely waterfalls running for a relaxing touch. I would really want a room to showcase certain automotive and racing related memorabilia. I may even want to start my own model car collection and have my finest models showcased. My own personal gym would be nice as well. I even wouldn't mind having my own indoor basketball court to have fun shooting hoops in. Maybe I invite a few friends over (or guests) to play a little basketball. I even wouldn't mind a good game room to play arcade units I would buy as well as some pool tables. As for a garage, maybe a good 4-car or 6-car garage would be sweet.
I don't believe in being serviced by others or hiring others to serve me. I'm a human being, not a king or some deity. Some people who think of living fabulously would feel like other people have to do things for them to further enjoy being very rich. I'm not like that. Honest!
You will have to get in touch with luxury home brokers if you want to even buy a luxurious home. Or if you're good enough and patient enough, build your own mansion. The duPONT Registry also specializes in showcasing luxurious homes. To get an idea for luxurious homes featured in the duPONT Registry, I invite you to check out the duPONT Registry's Homes page.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Automobiles ---
This section is more like my specialty. Best to have a great car to drive if you're flaunting your luxurious lifestyle. You probably know your cars for if you want to have a luxurious lifestyle. You probably know your car companies that specialize in luxury cars or have luxurious cars to own.
Depending on who you ask, some either care for luxurious cars, and some others would rather drive a... not-so-luxurious car. Executive-class people often showcase their status with executive-type cars. Therefore, a 1998 Ford Taurus isn't likely an executive car of choice. Something like a BMW M5 or an Audi A8 would be much more appealing. One may even look for an older luxury car like a 1990s Bentley Arnage. I think I remember Paris Hilton having a customized pink Bentley Continental GT that would make Barbie jealous. Those who have a LOT of money would even get something like a Bugatti Veyron.
What Would I Drive?
Time to put myself on the spot again. If you ask me, I'd prefer something that is a mix of luxury with that right amount of sportiness. So therefore, I would love to own an Aston Martin to be my high-end luxury car company. I'd probably have an Aston Marin DB9 or an Aston Martin Vanquish V12.
If I prefer an executive sedan, however, I'd have a good deal of options. I'm thinking if I want to have an executive sedan, I want to have an executive sedan that has great power and is very inviting. I really wouldn't consider executive sedans unless I wanted to drive around more people. You know, more like if I was married and had children that I wanted to cruise in style with. This would require a good vehicle that could handle and balance the responsibilities of being a capable executive-class car while also hauling around family and groceries.
If I wanted an executive-type car that didn't have an executive price tag, simple- Chrysler 300 with a Hemi. Part of the 300's charm was that it looked much more expensive than it really is. In fact, some people thought of (especially the very first 300) as a poor-man's Bentley. That, and the fact it is a premium rear-wheel drive sedan.
If you watch a lot of YouTube videos and love cars, you'll find no shortage of exotic automobiles if you check out BrianZuk. To see some of the finest automobiles ever made in YouTube videos, check out BrianZuk's YouTube channel.
I know the duPONT Registry best for automobiles. So to get an idea of luxury-type automobiles and some of the finest automobiles (and even motorcycles) ever made, check out the duPONT Registry's Automobile registry.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Yachts and Other Boats ---
When playing "Test Drive Unlimited 2," the fact that you could buy a yacht to live in is proof that you can enjoy the luxurious lifestyle even at sea. You don't actually get to control the yacht, though. Most luxury boats allow you to enjoy life at sea in style. They can range from lovely (essentially) homes on water to luxurious boats good enough to have parties on.
I began thinking about yachts thinking about something I "like" on Facebook. One of motorsport.com's lovely grid girls is Nicole Haboush, nicknamed as the "Cute Grid Girl." She is a VERY cute grid girl in my opinion! Besides being one of the cutest grid girls in the United States (or anywhere in the world), Nicole is also the President of Allied Yacht Charters, based in in Palm Beach, Florida, USA. So this was the first person I thought of in regards to yachting. That, and just the fact I wanted to make a shout-out to Nicole if she happens to read this blog post. :) I've also featured her in my "Grid Girls" blog post.
Why would you want a luxurious boat? If you're out on the water a lot, why not have a boat that you can enjoy living on water with? I have seen yachts before many times. I sometimes often see these yachts with a party going on. Considering what you can do on a yacht and what parties you can have, this can be a great way to enjoy life at sea. Yachts are more like floatable mansions where you can enjoy life at sea much the same way you can enjoy life in a mansion. You may even enjoy things like wine, champagne, a jacuzzi, a lavish kitchen, and things like that... even at sea! A yacht is essentially a floatable mansion. Some of the loveliest yachts can be just as beautiful as almost any high-end house or mansion.
Yacht Videos.
Get ready for some videos of yachts. This is just to show how lovely yachts can be. I got to warn you that these videos may not be good for your health. Why? It's because your jaw might drop after seeing some of these stunning yachts. :) So have a look, if you're interested...
Here is a look at how lovely yachts can be:
Even though this video is not in English, you have GOT to see this! Trust me, you'll fall in love with this yacht:
Here is one more yacht video for you all:
Told you these were stunning and luxurious boats. Did you like the videos? I'd like to thank the YouTube channels I got these videos from for allowing me to embed them in this blog post.

Take to the skies with your wealth. There are those who have their own luxury aircraft. Some of the various kinds of luxury aircraft include private jets. If you are a fan of Far East Movement, you may have heard their hit song, "Like a G6." Well at first, I thought it was about the crappy-looking Pontiac G6. But, it's a reference to the Gulfstream G650. The Gulfstream G650 is an example of luxury-type aircraft.
Want to know what it's like on a private jet? Check this out (it was honestly the best video I could find):
What if you're into other luxurious aircraft? The only one I am most familiar with is the Airbus A380. I think this is the aircraft used by airlines like Qatar Airways and Qantas among others. I actually tried to find a video to showcase other kinds of luxurious aircraft, but I have failed to find a worthy video. Maybe I'll update in a future edit.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Fashion ---
NOTE: What you're about to read is somewhat part of a blog post idea I once had and may consider for a future post on "John's Blog Space."
Finally, a look at luxury fashion. Many people who usually can't afford high-end designers often try to snag haute couture for a steal. Not many will have the money on hand when shopping at stores like Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue. This section is just a quick digest on luxurious fashion for men, and it was not really intended to be a detailed post on this topic.
Luxurious Fashion for Men.
You know there are men out there reluctant to rock their Gucci sunglasses, Versace suits, and stuff like that. I do like a dapper dude. Some classy guys will proudly wear Armani suits. Around home, some men even enjoy wearing high-end designer robes.
Luxurious Fashion for Women.
At least 75% of all of my blog posts have pertained to feminine fashion. Therefore, some of the many luxury names have been those you may be familiar with. There are fashion blogs I often follow featuring items from high-end designers. You know... Louboutin heels, Chanel bags, 7 for All Mankind jeans, Prada shoes (for women), almost anything Dior, and things like that. Most of what some females look for are often sold at high-end dealers and outlet malls.
Luxurious Fashion for Children.
Yes- even children (babies and kids) can have high-end style! Don't believe me? Try looking up certain high-end designers who have fashions for children, like Ralph Lauren. You'd be surprised that even kids can be high fashion. The one thing I would question is... as playful as kids can be, who wants to soil high-end casual fashions for kids (unless you're reluctant to wash these clothes often)?
Just being able to wear clothes from high-end designers and luxury designers is enough to make anyone feel like luxury. And again- I may use some of the points in this topic to be featured in a future blog post going into a bit more detail. If you read my blog post called "Preppy Fashion," I make mention to a good deal of high-end and preppy designers. Preppy fashion is actually mostly predicated on classy upscale fashions. Looking rich without actually being rich.
IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED: Read my blog post "Scrimp or Splurge?" for a look at low-end fashions vs. high-end fashions.
--- Luxurious Lifestyle: Final Thoughts ---
This blog post was more a Just for Fun deal, but of course, expressed in a professional way. The one thing that really mystifies me is just how people share and express their wealth. It is also astounding just what money can buy- especially those with LOTS of money. When you reach that executive level (or something similar to the top of your profession), you've basically shown people that you made it. You tend to show people that what you've worked for all paid off in the end with a lifestyle many people only wish they had.
Many people are even fortunate if they win the lottery. Imagine having lots of money and a good way to spend and invest all that money. It's the classic question of what would you do if you found $1M USD. I know what winning the lottery is like because my family once won the lottery. However, making and inheriting lots of money is one thing; maintaining it and living happily is another. Do you flaunt your wealth around with fancy wares, or do you hold on to whatever necessities you need? It's your call and your money.
This blog post was rich with content, and I hope I've infused a wealth of information (and good reading) for all of you! Was I on the money with the luxurious lifestyle? Feel free to subscribe to my blog(s) as well as Become a Fan on Facebook. You love my blog and my material, right? PLEASE show it! Thank you for reading!
Aerobiz Supersonic challenges you to build a successful airline company within four different time periods and against three rival airlines. It is the hit sequel to the very first Aerobiz released in 1992. There are four scenarios each spanning a 20-year cycle. Your goal, then, is to build the best airline in the world while trying to outlast various global issues and three other airlines wanting the same piece of the airline pie. Do you have what it takes to build the world's top airline?
^ (from my Picasa album) - Aerobiz Supersonic (SNES version).
FUN FACT: In Japan, it is known as "Air Management II: Koku O wo Mezase (or ?????????II ???????)"
LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S)
OCT 13 2014 - edited overall appearance of post, several edits and updates
--- Aerobiz Supersonic at a Glance ---
Your job in Aerobiz Supersonic is to take your airline from a basic airline to a world-class airline service. You are the CEO of your own airline going up against three other airline companies. You set up flights to go across international regions as well as into other international markets. Along the way, you will face various obstacles that dare threaten or impact your airline's success. Some of them include the following: war, natural disasters, tourism booms, and more. Certain cities may also try to cut deals with you to help enhance your relations with another city. You also need to purchase planes to handle many more flights around the world and within your home international region. You have to have meetings to discuss how the company is doing and what changes you will need to do to enhance your company.
The game is turn-based as there is a three-month cycle allowing you to make changes for up to one quarter of the year. When you're done in each cycle, go ahead into the next quarter. Certain other factors play a role in the ultimate fate of your company within each quarter.
--- Elements of Aerobiz Supersonic ---
Elements of Aerobiz Supersonic will be discussed here. Please use this section to learn more about the intricate aspects of this game.
Slots.
Slots are the life blood of your ability to do anything with any city. These are essentially credits you can use to do almost anything to enhance your airline as well as what you can do with an airline. You will need to negotiate for slots with certain cities that don't have any slots available. Without slots, you will be unable to really generate any business with any city. The process for slot negotiations can last anywhere from six months to a full year. You will also need slots to purchase businesses, open routes to cities, build regional hubs, and more.
Airplanes.
Actually-licensed airline companies are represented in this game across multiple companies. Some of these companies include Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Airbus, Tupolev, and many more. It even includes older companies like Vickers. You even take note of some past designs in aircraft.
Scenarios.
You face four scenarios spanning four different eras of flight. Please note that this game was made in 1994, so these events are as recent as the date this game was published. You have twenty years to go from humble beginnings to a world-class airline while also battling various other factors. Here is a look at the scenarios you face:
• The Dawn of the Jet Age (1955 - 1975)
Prop-engine planes are replaced with jet planes for better air travel.
• Air Travel Takes Off (1970 - 1990)
Planes become faster and larger. More and more people are starting to fly planes to many places around the world.
• Airlines Cover the Globe (1985 - 2005)
There are more and more planes being used around the world as the flight range of planes is enhanced. Two serious components play a huge role in this scenario- the Persian Gulf War and oil prices.
• Supersonic Travel (2000 - 2020)
A conceptual scenario in which the ONLY way to fly is with supersonic planes!
After selecting a scenario, you then go ahead and select the difficulty level. Levels range from Glider (Level 1) to Supersonic (Level 5). Up to four players can play, or you can set up a demo. The next step is to choose the region for your home base. After selecting a region, you must find a major city (marked by the green dots) to base your operations in. Certain cities and environments will yield certain problems and certain budgets. Once you set up your operations in a city, three other airline companies will randomly be generated to challenge your company. You can then customize the colors for each airline and the names for each of them. Once everything is all set, you're ready to build and manage that top-tier airline!
Another interesting note about each scenario is that everything is really historically correct. For example, you have the two Germanys (East Germany and West Germany) and various other countries under rule from other nations. Like when you visit Kingston, Jamaica or Hong Kong; you will see British flags. Even the airplanes are unique to each time period. You begin to see the real evolution of air travel through each scenario, and the planes show it.
Tips and Advice.
Having played Aerobiz Supersonic before, I can share with you a few tips. So here are a few suggestions from me:
• Have meetings EVERY quarter. These meetings are important to help steer your airline in the right direction. I recommend you host the meeting rather than have the meeting done automatically. This is especially if you need just simple advice on how everything is performing.
• You have four agents whom you can use to carry out negotiations. You need to use these agents to assist in just about every conceivable aspect- slot negotiations (most important), acquiring businesses, building regional hubs, taking part in advertising campaigns, and more. Consider for how long each negotiation session last so you can properly plan ahead. You can call back one of your agents if you really need to open more opportunities. For example, if you don't have any remaining agents and want to build a regional hub in Tokyo or Singapore, you can cancel one of your agents' negotiations to work to build a regional hub (which takes one quarter to complete). Certain negotiable actions, such as negotiations that take up to a full year or advertising campaigns, will basically leave you with three agents until next year. Use your agents wisely and make sound negotiations.
• If a city is strapped for slots, one measure to help ease up the number of slots is to allow less flights to each city.
• You will have to consider purchasing businesses to improve the quality of flights while also providing some extra profit. You will know when you will need to purchase a business. There are a total of 15 different businesses- three cultural facilities, three different hotels, four amusement businesses, four Service Businesses, and a Travel Agency. Do not negotiate for these ventures unless your company recommends you look into these business offers. Run an Ad Campaign to enhance the appeal of these businesses and attract more commuters. Sometimes, these business ventures will be non-profitable. So really, purchase businesses wisely.
• When you set up international routes, be sure to establish regional hubs. A regional hub will allow you to set up more flights in a given region. Flights can originate from these regional hubs to allow you to access more cities in the given region. Or, you may use these regional hubs to link to other regional hubs to enhance your number of flights worldwide. To set up a Regional Hub, you must first have a flight linked to a major city (noted by a green dot on the map). You must then negotiate with that city to build a Regional Hub by hiring one of your agents. Once you pay the startup costs for the Regional Hub, it will take three months (one quarter) for construction of the regional hub to be complete. It may be wise to negotiate for slots in cities within that region to help expand your regional flights in other international regions. That is especially if you are trying to expand your service across the given region.
• If one route just isn't working at all, just close it. Why waste extra money trying everything in the book to make it work?
• When choosing to fly flights into certain cities, pay attention to the Relationship (viewed as "Rtlns") icon. If the icon is red, that means you have trouble trying to become better acquainted with that city's airport. If the icon is orange or red, it will be tougher to negotiate for offers or anything. One way to improve relations is to approve of certain offers made by certain people. For example, if the airport in Singapore recently expanded for more slots or if they are trying to enhance service at the airport, a representative for that airport will request money to help finance a project. If you approve of it, you will improve your relations with that city. You don't have to accept these [usually expensive] offers, but it can help you to build better bonds with cities worldwide in Aerobiz Supersonic.
• Okay, read this one closely as I'll try to explain as best as I can. Here's a nifty tip to keep in mind- you don't need to have your international flights originate from your home base! Sometimes in meetings, some people may suggest you set up flights from other cities in other regions... to other cities in other regions. If my home operation (for example) is based in New York City, and if I have regional hubs set up in London and Tokyo, and if I have flights going from NYC to London and NYC to Tokyo... I could set up an international flight to go from London to Tokyo. As long as you have at least two regional hubs in at least two different regions, you can link to other cities' regional hubs and set up flights. However, you can ONLY do this between other major cities and only between other regional hubs. In other words... you cannot set up such a route to go from a major city (like Paris) to any minor city in the game (like Shanghai).
• (mostly pertains to the SNES version) Press the "X" button to learn more about each available city in the game. This can be important to see what businesses are available. You can also query how much it would cost to set up a route between two places. For example, if you wanted to find out what a flight between Cairo and Lagos would cost and how far away two cities are, you simply press "A" on Cairo in the query, then go to Lagos to see how much a flight would cost between the two cities. This is very helpful in helping you plan ahead in setting up a future route while also seeing if you have a plane available to make the flight happen.
• When shopping for planes, keep in mind finding planes to suit your needs. Do not go for a long-haul major plane unless you really need one. For example, do not consider getting the Boeing B747-400 if you haven't set up a flight between Los Angeles and Sydney. Each plane you look at will feature a nice description about the features of each plane. Ordering anywhere between one to three (and maybe four) planes is always safe to not spend more than you have to. When you choose a plane, the representative will let you know up to how many (a limit of ten) you can buy. Planes will be delivered to your airline in the following quarter.
• Some airplane makers sometimes offer planes for sale during a certain quarter. DO NOT make a mistake that I made- buying in bulk (so to speak). You can still order anywhere from one to three planes, just that they'll cost less for that given quarter from that company.
• Sometimes, a representative from a certain city wants to speak with you in helping them manage their airport or their area. They will request money to help fund certain operations and projects. You don't have to accept their offers, but they will help in getting you establish a better relation with that city. It can help you to do better in acquiring slots or anything like that.
• You will know what places to concentrate on when tourism is booming in a certain location. If you haven't negotiated for slots in that city, do so to give your airline a boost.
Major Cities.
ADDED: April 6, 2011
I am offering this section as an added resource in thank to all of my readers of this post.
To start an airline, you must start in a major city. If you see a location with an exclamation point (!), it is a city featured in the original Aerobiz game. Here are all the major cities in Aerobiz Supersonic for which you can open an airline in:
--- North America ---
• New York City, New York, USA!
• Washington, District of Columbia, USA
• Atlanta, Georgia, USA
• Chicago, Illinois, USA
• Dallas, Texas, USA
• Los Angeles, California, USA!
• Vancouver, British Columbia, USA!
--- South America ---
• Mexico City, Mexico!
• Havana, Cuba
• Sao Paulo, Brazil
--- Middle East ---
• Baghdad, Iraq
• Tehran, Iran!
• New Delhi, India
--- Southeast Asia ---
• Bangkok, Thailand
• Singapore, Singapore!
• Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region, China
• Manila, Philippines
• Beijing, China!
• Seoul, South Korea
• Tokyo, Japan!
--- Oceania ---
• Sydney, New South Wales, Australia!
• Perth, Western Australia, Australia
• Auckland, New Zealand
Plan your airline accordingly by picking any of these cities to open up in. As a recommendation, it's probably best not to start an airline in this game in the Middle East in any city except in New Delhi.
Business Offers and Ad Campaigns.
Purchase businesses to help improve your flights as well as provide better overall service to your commuters. Each city can have a maximum of six businesses you can purchase. There are a total of 15 different businesses- three cultural facilities, three different hotels, four amusement businesses, four Service Businesses, and a Travel Agency. You can use these businesses to help attract more passengers or provide better service towards your airport.
In addition, Ad Campaigns help improve the chances of better promoting businesses you bought. However much money you spend in each campaign determines its success. You cannot run Ad Campaigns for Hotels and Travel Agencies. Here is a look at what each business provides:
--- Cultural Facilities ---
Cultural Facilities allow your airline to attract new passengers. You can start sponsoring cultural events to attract more passengers to your airline upon purchasing any Cultural Facility. When you purchase a Cultural Facility, it's best to think about starting a Culture and Arts campaign to better promote them and your airline.
• Arts Pavilion
• Museum
• Concert Hall
--- Hotels ---
Give your commuters better service going to and from the airport by purchasing hotels.
• City Hotel
• Resort Hotel
• Grand Hotel
--- Amusement ---
Amusement facilities allow your passengers a chance to relax and have fun. To make them more efficient, run an Ad Campaign highlighting on sports and leisure activities.
--- Service Businesses ---
These facilities provide better access to the airport and to your commuters. Run a Travel Ad Campaign to help promote your services to others.
• Shuttle Service
• Ferry
• Commuter Airline
• Catering Service
--- Travel Business ---
Without a Travel Agency, it can be tough trying to get more commuters to board your flights. This is an all-around improvement for cities that have travel agencies.
• Travel Agency
Overall Review...
Aerobiz Supersonic is one of few games that really makes you think. It is great fun to set up an airline while also managing it. It is a game where you actually use your head and think about every decision you make. My ONLY problems with this game- things can be very slow-paced and sometimes too strict and boring. Otherwise, there is no reason why you shouldn't give this game a chance.
If you want to purchase this game through Amazon, check these out (please read "An Important Amazon Note" for notes on all Amazon items):
1.) Aerobiz Supersonic for the Super Nintendo.
2.) Aerobiz Supersonic for the Sega Genesis.
