"Fantastic Cats" is a casual cat game by a Korean developer named DazzlePlay, Inc. In "Fantastic Cats," you are a blogger looking to try to provide an intimate look into the minds of various cats. You play the role of a blogger trying to blog about the Fantastic Behaviors of cats. Can you try to help this blogger recognize this vision? Placing food and toys around your cafe will help lure some cats to play. The real joy comes in trying to discover the Fantastic Behaviors of these cats.

"Fantastic Cats" may seem a lot like "Neko Atsume" at first, but this game is more about exploring the minds and talents of cats rather just than try to collect multiple cats. You find out about cats based on toys you place in your yard. Once a cat enjoys a certain toy, you begin to sense certain personality aspects about them. You must then try to further learn about their personalities and special traits with more toys. More cats will eventually find your yard and play around with toys and eat. It is all up to you to try to find out what is all in the minds of these cats!

The Basics.

You begin with one toy and attracting one cat. You will need to place cat food in your yard in order to attract cats. You then proceed to add more toys and items to your yard. Items can be purchased using either Gold Coins or Dazzle Tokens. More interesting items can be purchased using Dazzle Tokens. If you have enough real money, you can purchase Gold Coins or Dazzle Coins using your own real money.

What are these "Fantastic Behaviors," anyways? Well, they are unique abilities each cat has that you are trying to expose. You only know what such Fantastic Behaviors are if the cats play with their favorite toys. If you seem to be in a hurry to try to discover Fantastic Behaviors, try feeding cats Catnip. The chances, however, are not very high you will discover Fantastic Behaviors with Catnip. You have a 30% chance of discovering Fantastic Behaviors with regular Catnip, and you have a 50% chance of discovering Fantastic Behaviors if you have Luxury Catnip.

After midnight, the in-game blog will be updated featuring pictures taken of various Fantastic Behaviors and other pictures. You earn Subscribers and Gold Coins based on your progress and in your observations. You will earn bonus material based on consectutive days looking into Fantastic Cats. So it is best you play the game some time after midnight to gauge your progress. You can connect via Google Play Games, Facebook, and Twitter.

Fantastic Cats: Final Thoughts

I have reviewed three different mobile cat games this month, "Fantastic Cats" being the third. Of the three, I must say that I didn't enjoy "Fantastic Cats" as much as I did "Furistas Cat Cafe" or "Neko Atsume." The pace of this game game is too slow and not really as rewarding. It is tough to acquire money without having to spend real money just for in-game credit. The concept and the appeal are there in this game. I even enjoy the cute meow sounds when browsing the cats. The background song is nice. I am kind of hit-and-miss on the cats. They either look extremely mean or feel like I am invading their privacy. In the long run, I just couldn't enjoy this game too much to where I would want to play it again or recommend it to anyone. It is a nice experience, but it could have been a lot better to me.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch Tablet

7 inch tablet or 10 inch? Samsung provides an 8-inch tablet. An 8-inch slots in between the quality of a 10-inch, but the portability of a 7. So the Galaxy Tab A 8-inch could be what you need if you love Samsung. Should you get one if you are considering getting a tablet PC? I'll offer my thoughts to you on this tablet as I bought one some time ago.

NOTE: I bought this Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch with my tablet. I was not contacted by Samsung or anybody to provide this review. This review is based on my own personal experience using this.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch tablet offers you some great power. Why an eight-inch tablet? Why not seven or even ten inches? Take it from me- when I first bought the Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6 followed by the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2, I needed something more practical and more useful to serve as my gateway to cyberspace outside of my PC. Something more practical means I had to pick up a tablet. When I had my Hisense Sero 7 Pro (a 7-inch tablet), I had that practical tablet. When the Wi-Fi went out on it, I needed to get something to replace it. An eight-inch tablet is larger than a regular seven-inch tablet, but not as massive as a ten-inch tablet. So a slightly-larger tablet would do the trick for me while still providing my daily online consumption needs.

So enter the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch tablet. It is a slightly larger tablet than your basic seven-inch tablet. It is big, but doesn't feel overwhelmingly big. It is still a tablet you can use for taking in online media or handling certain PC tasks on the go. Or just have it around to utilize a Wi-Fi network. The Galaxy Tab A 8-inch utilizes Wi-Fi, but the Galaxy Tab E 8-inch can take on connectivity from mobile carriers. To my knowledge, this tablet comes in three colors: White, Smoky Titanium, and Smoky Blue. The one I have for this review is in Smoky Titanium.

(Some) Specifications.

Unlike the previous tablet I had, this tablet is packing 16GB of storage unlike the Tab E Lite 7-inch's 8GB of storage. It also packs Android "Marshmallow." It is the first Android "Marshmallow" device I've ever used and my first time using "Marshmallow." It is also the first Android device I owned offering more than 8GB of internal storage. There is a 2 megapixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera. The tablet communicates only using Wi-Fi. However, and if you prefer this eight-inch tablet, you can get versions of the Galaxy Tab E 8-inch tablet with various carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and more. A 4.2K mAh, non-removable, rechargeable battery powers this tablet. A 1.2GHz Quad Core processor powers the Galaxy Tab A 8-inch carrying 1.5GB LPDDR3 RAM. This tablet is capable of playing 1080p video with its 1024x768 resolution. It runs the full Android suite with Touchwiz. Up to a 128GB microSD card can be inserted into this device for loads more storage than the stock 16GB this device packs.

Initial Thoughts.

This tablet offers a very nice displaying experience. You can do split screen action with this tablet. You can set up half of the screen for one program, but then use another program to use. You can then multitask with this tablet nicely. The tablet isn't huge, but is a bit more troublesome than with the 7-inch Galaxy Tab E Lite I had previously. It's not that bad, though. You can still nicely hold the tablet in one hand while using your other hand to tap the screen and stuff or to use a stylus (like I do). I haven't tested the cameras, but I did play a bit trying to see how to use the front-facing camera. I could easily see myself doing video chats or video calls with this device. There is no flash with the cameras, so you're going to need a good amount of light to look fairly decent or to take decent photos. Otherwise, that's why you use a more capable smartphone or a camera for your pictures.

When you buy this device, you can get yourself some deals and some perks. For example, you can get a free eBook each month for up to one year using Kindle for Samsung when you buy this tablet. You will need to set up a Samsung account to be able to take advantage of these offers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-Inch: Final Thoughts

Samsung did great delivering a tablet that slots in between a portable 7-inch and a more than capable 10-inch. For merely the most basic of mobile device usage, this tablet will set you well. I admit I do miss some of the nice features of the Galaxy Tab E Lite when I sold it, notably the charming water ripple effect when you swipe to unlock. This is still a tablet good for mobile media consumption. You won't get anything other than Wi-Fi with the Galaxy Tab A, but you can get the Galaxy Tab E 8-inch if you want connectivity from mobile carriers. I actually didn't want to get the Galaxy Tab 8-Inch initially because it was out of my budget. With a little financial help (thanks, mom!), I got it and actually don't really regret getting this over the Galaxy Tab A 7-inch I originally wanted to get. I still wouldn't mind getting that Galaxy Tab A 7-inch to be honest. The Galaxy Tab A 8-inch is a more than suitable replacement for my Hisense Sero 7 Pro.

I didn't get into things like gaming or anything with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-inch because I don't consider myself a mobile gamer. However, you can still pretty much be able to play a lot of casual mobile games with this tablet. So play your Candy Crush or whatever with this tablet proudly.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch Tablet

The Samsung Galaxy Tab E=Lite is a 7-inch tablet from Samsung. This is my first tablet from the Korean manufacturer. I bought this tablet when I was originally seeking another tablet. Samsung's entry level tablet is the E Lite. Could the E Lite really be called "elite?" Well, you'll see what I think in this blog review.

NOTE: I bought this tablet with my own money from a store. So this is a legit purchase and review. I wasn't contacted or anything to get this tablet. Then too, it would be cool to have stuff to review by having material provided to me, but that's another story for another time.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch is the lowest-spec tablet in the Galaxy Tab range. This tablet delivers many of the base essentials for most mobile device users. It is a quality tablet that doesn't cost a whole lot. In fact, I bought mine from Wal-Mart for (tax included) $106 USD. If you want a seven-inch tablet from Samsung, the top-of-the-line version is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7-inch.

As my Hisense Sero 7 Pro's Wi-Fi gave out on me, I was looking for something to move on from this tablet. The Hisense tablet served me well, but I really wanted to go with something more modern. I actually was shopping at a Wal-Mart for the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 I mentioned in a recent "John's Blog Space" post. When the store didn't have that tablet in stock, I went ahead and bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite. I then went ahead to try to get accustomed to this new tablet. I also

(Some) Specifications.

The Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch has a 1.3 GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. It has 8GB of storage, but you can also expand its memory by about 32GB with a microSD card. It runs Android 4.4.1- Android "Kitkat." To my knowledge, I don't think it is upgradable to any higher versions of Android. The tablet is available with Wi-Fi connectivity. If you want connectivity through something like a mobile carrier or any LTE type connectivity, seek Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8-inch or larger Galaxy Tab tablets. The Galaxy Tab E Lite only comes in white for what I know. There is no front-facing camera, but you do get a 2.0 MP camera. The tablet comes with a rear-facing speaker to the left of the camera. It has a resolution of 1024x600 resolution with its VSVGA display.

Software Interface.

Anyone familiar with Samsung mobile devices may be familiar with Touchwiz. You get the suite of Google apps. I even noticed a Google folder of items when I first set up my tablet. An app I liked among the offered apps is Flipboard. I may review Flipboard in the future, but it is a nice program for getting news from various sites. Rather than the stock Android browser, you get Google Chrome. So if you prefer something other than Chrome for web browsing, you can freely choose some other app from the Google Play Store.

This is my first experience that I know of with Android Kitkat. I had to introduce myself to what this tablet has to offer as opposed to what I was used to with the Android "Jellybean" interface of my Hisense Sero 7 Pro. I had to adjust myself to get used to some of the changes Android "KitKat" provides as opposed to my time with "Gingerbread" and "Jellybean." The interface is beautiful and colorful for one. When the Samsung Galaxy S3 was released, its calling card was that it was "inspired by nature." I was reminded of this when I mostly swipe to unlock the Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch. Swiping provides a beautiful watery effect with ripples. At one point in my research prior to this post, I noted this interface can do the multitasking of certain programs. I had one window with Chrome working and another with Google Play working. I didn't go hardcore with this, but it was pretty cool having both programs working even on a 7-inch tablet.

The tablet comes pre-installed with various Google apps ranging from Google Play to Google Music, Google Books, Google Maps, and more. The tablet even comes with Samsung's own suite of apps. The tablet was meant to be fun even for children. To that end, there is a Samsung Kids app to excite the little ones. The Samsung Kids app is free, but you will need to pay monthly or annually to use the Samsung Kids service.

Surprising Elements.

Two things actually surprise me about this table. For one- there is no vibration motor for this tablet. There is also no lighting for the buttons on this tablet. So you will have to make sure you have some light to know where to find the non-capacitive buttons. You can jack in headphones, but you can still hear the regular sound effects you either set or implement. The headphones mostly are for private listening to things like games, videos, music, and more. The back is a bit slippery, so be careful holding onto it.

Final Thoughts.

If you want an all-in-one tablet to be the end-all of tablets, you are NOT going to find it with this tablet. While it is not a top-level tablet, it IS a very respectable low-end tablet from a quality company like Samsung. Unless you can't afford it, you may want to pick up the Galaxy Tab A 7-inch. (Figures from the Samsung Mobile site) Whereas the Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch retails for about $99 USD, the Galaxy Tab A 7-inch retails for about $149 USD. Forget about this tablet if you are thinking of having something outside of Wi-Fi connectivity.

I don't want to sound mean, but you don't NEED a tablet with every last bell and whistle and every benchmark beast. This Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch tablet lacks a lot of features that would make most people would associate with being a top-level tablet. You're not going to play Asphalt 8 Airborne as fluidly as a Triple-A level game on a PlayStation 4 or an XBOX One X with the Galaxy Tab E Lite However, this budget tablet still does a lot of the basic tasks with little or no compromise. You can live with a lot of what this tablet has to offer for its price point. It is a very basic tablet, but it isn't a boring one. You don't need to make too many sacrifices to enjoy this tablet PC. Samsung makes some quality products, and even this budget tablet is as solid as their more expensive, more capable offerings. Definitely do NOT overlook this tablet if you are wanting to buy a decent 7-inch tablet. It will handle a lot of the different needs with little or no compromise.

You can say that the E Lite is "e-lite" in delivering many of the basics of a modern tablet while still being fairly useful to many audiences and cater to many media needs of many people. If you can live with the shortcomings the Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch has (and you actually can live with them), you can do no wrong picking up this tablet.

I was kind of thinking of exchanging the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7-inch for a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7-inch. Perhaps if I succeed in doing so, you may see a future review here on "John's Blog Space" offering my thoughts on the Galaxy Tab A 7-inch.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Series

The Samsung Galaxy Tab series features three tablets noted for their screen size. Whether at 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch; the Korean consumer electronics giant has you covered with their third generation of tablets- the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series. This blog post is more either first impressions or thoughts at each tablet in this series. Do any of their three tablets in the series interest me? This and more will be answered and discussed in this blog post.

This blog post is about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series, but I will make mention to the Galaxy Note series at times. The post is still entirely about the SGT3 series.

Three tablets comprise the 3 series of Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablets. The Tab 3 series feature visual cues consistent with the Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Why fix what isn't broken- so Samsung would ask. If you are fond of Samsung products and Samsung quality, one will probably find very little to dislike about these tablets. Each of the tablets in the Tab 3 range all feature cameras at the front and back as well as a physical Home button. They have plastic backing and beveled sides. Each model features volume rockers and an IR Blaster for your tablet to become its own remote. Each model comes either in White or Golden Brown. Some non-WiFi versions may come in other colors, such as Midnight Black for a Verizon Wireless 4G/LTE version I looked up in researching this topic. Best of all, each of these tablets can take microSD cards of up to 64GB of capacity. These devices have WiFi access. Or if you have a mobile data plan, you may opt for 4G/LTE connectivity for these tablets from certain major carriers like Verizon Wireless. Suggested retail prices for the base models of each tablet are as follows (according to Samsung's official website):

• Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0: $199.99 US Dollars
• Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0: $299.99 US Dollars
• Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1: $399.99 US Dollars

The Galaxy Tab 2 series is still offered in some stores for slightly lower prices than the current Galaxy Tab 3 series.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet features some of the lowest specs of the SGT3 range. It packs a 7-inch screen displaying material at 1024 x 600 WSVGA resolution. It features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. There is 1GB of SDRAM onboard along with an 8GB hard drive. Weighing at 0.68 lbs., it is the lightest of the three tablets. This tablet also has the least onboard memory with an 8GB hard drive. Its two cameras are a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and a 3-megapixel rear camera. It runs on Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean." It is the only one of the three to run with the Android 4.1 interface. Moderate to heavy usage of this tablet's non-replaceable 4000 mAh battery is good for about 5-8 hours of use according to videos I've seen online. Compared to the previous generation Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, the Tab 3 7.0 is very much thinner and shorter than its previous model. The Galaxy Tab 3 comes in two colors: White and Gold Brown. A 4G/LTE version of this tablet from Verizon offers the tablet in Midnight Black.

Some people have had kind of a concern of whether to stick with this version SGT3 7.0 tablet or go with the previous generation Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet. Some people say the newer SGT3 7.0 is slower than the SGT2 tablet. I would personally want to have the SGT3 7.0 among the three tablets. Its portability and capabilities seem to fit my needs more.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Tablet.

^ from: www.amazon.com - An extra inch of screen, a more powerful processor, and better screen resolution make this better than the Tab 3 7-inch. However, it costs MUCH more than the SGT3 7-inch tablet.

How much of a difference does one extra inch make? The 8-inch SGT3 tablet has some better specifications compared to its 7-inch brother. It weighs one hundredth of a pound heavier at 0.68 lbs. In addition, it packs a 1.5 GHz dual core processor- more powerful than the 1.0 GHz processor in the 7-inch SGT3. 1.5 is also how many GB of SDRAM this device has. It has a 16GB hard drive. In addition to its extra inch of goodness, it has a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 in WXGA resolution that packs 189ppi. Unlike the 7-inch tablet, the 8-inch SGT3 runs on Android 4.2 "Jelly Bean."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 is an extra inch too big despite its better statistics than the 7.0 tablet. I think the price is the real deterrent for me as to why I'd take on the 7-inch tablet more than the 8-inch tablet. The 7.0 fits better to me than the 8.0.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Tablet.

If you want a full-featured big tablet, look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10-inch tablet. It has the same 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution and 16GB hard drive as the 8-inch SGT3 tablet. It also runs on Android 4.2 "Jelly Bean." However, it has the same memory as the 7-inch tablet- 1GB SDRAM. This tablet has the most powerful processor with its Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor. As its name implies, it has a 10-inch (actually 10.1-inch) screen. So a tablet like this is major league territory if you use 10-inch tablet PCs.

I've seen some reviews on YouTube for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10-inch tablet. Many of the reviews seemed to provide poor receptions for the 10-inch tablet. Part of me even still sides with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 2 tablet more than the SGT3 10.1 model, one reason mostly being because of the stereo speaker grills mounted at the front. If I were considering a 10-inch tablet, I probably would NOT get the SGT3 10.1 tablet. I may either get the previous Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, or maybe a 10-inch tablet from another company.


There is your perspective on each of the different tablets of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series.

--- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Series: Final Thoughts ---

Even if some of Samsung's offerings seem ancient and obsolete compared to most of its opposition, and even if it seems like their products don't do so well in various benchmark tests; Samsung still make solid products, and their Galaxy Tab 3 series is as solid as any other. One who wants a tablet PC would be foolish to pass up or neglect the tablet offerings from Samsung. These are stylish tablets that are very capable and very feature-rich. Anyone looking for decently-priced and capable tablets should consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab series, including the current Tab 3 series.

The one that I would want most of these three is the 7-inch tablet in white. Even if just to use a more up-to-date Android interface with a device much more practical than my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2, the SGT3 7-inch fits my needs and my preferences for a tablet. It also satisfies my price preferences. The only thing I wouldn't be so sure of is whether or not I want to get a cover to protect it.

Even if certain benchmark tests say the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series is underwhelming compared to most of the competition (such as the Google Nexus 7), I still consider Samsung a quality brand. I do admire their products. I seem most comfortable with the package Samsung provides.

American Beauties: Pacific

The finale of my American Beauties series features beauties from the Pacific states. The featured personalities are from California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. Even though I mention Hawaii, more of them can be seen in my "South Pacific Beauties" post. This Beauties series concludes with West Coast beauties. It is the final featured region of my American Beauties posts.

American Beauties Series

Beautiful American ladies. I love doing these "Beauties" posts regarding some of the world's loveliest ladies, but I have decided to go close to home for this series. What you will see here is my list of various beauties representing the United States. You may not know who I may feature. What you probably will be aware of is certain personalities I've showcased based on certain interests of mine. As you may be aware in my blog posts, while I do mention those in Beauties posts as women, some of my Beauties posts may NOT be exclusively feminine. So you'll see a little of everything.

Here is a preview of what all this series will entail. There is no really serious designation in picking out a set region for which to feature each location. I will break up my American Beauties focus into five individual regions:

American Beauties: This Region.

The region I will feature in this post is of Pacific beauties. I feel like I would do this region a disservice if I don't feature a number of Californian beauties because that state comprises the majority of beauties I've selected to feature and honor. This blog post consists of beauties from each of the following states:

• California
• Oregon
• Washington
• Alaska
• Hawaii

I can tell you right now that there will be a LOT of Californians I will feature in this post. I will still make an effort to find as many non-Californian beauties in this post to maintain solidarity.

I'll let you in on something- most of this blog post pertains to California. I do get the feeling that California has LOTS of people, so I fear I'll do this section a disservice if I don't feature as many Californians as possible. This is not to show any prejudice of anything. I'll try to feature lots of them early on.

So here are of many of California's beauties. As with any of the featured personalities, click on any hyperlinked headers to visit their official websites or fan pages.

Arika Sato.

The MTV reality TV competition "Paris Hilton's My New BFF" is where most people may have first heard of Arika Sato. This Japanese-American beauty is a (born: May 26, 1986)-year old southern California (SoCal) girl through and through. Arika Sato has done everything from modeling to being a star of her own YouTube channel. She is nowadays making material on YouTube called "What Every Guy Should Know," a series of videos showcasing what men should know about doing certain things. Arika hasn't forgotten about her ladies, as she offers fashion and beauty advice in some of those videos. I have respected Arika for the longest and still do to this day. Don't know Arika Sato? Keira Kang.

Keira Kang is a beautiful Korean-American singer. For as beautiful as this Los Angeles native is, however, this beautiful lady has had an ugly past. She has experienced everything from unemployment to the divorce of her parents. Her ultimate dream is to be a Grammy-award winning recording artist. I am hopeful she realizes her dream. As I've said about her before, she's been through Hell; all I want for her is Heaven. This video is a singing sample of Keira Kang:

Katy Perry.

Katy Perry kissed a girl and liked doing so. You change your mind like a girl changes clothes. She's a firework who will let you know that California girls (like herself) are undeniable. This lovely (Born: October 25, 1984)-year old lady from Santa Barbara, California made her mark in music with this bold song. Katy Perry is of both American and Portuguese descent. She later came along with many more hit songs. What I like about Katy Perry from a style standpoint is her vintage pin-up girl image. Besides pin-up chic, Katy Perry is also known for wearing very whimsical outfits to her shows. Those whom play The Sims may be familiar with the candy-themed material from Katy Perry that you can buy in that The Sims add-on. My representing of Katy Perry in this blog post will be done with this music video. Enjoy this high-energy song:

Rebecca Black.

From a world-class recording artist... to Rebecca Black. Many associate the (born: June 21, 1997)-year old as being an absolutely horrible singer (especially her "Friday" song), but this California girl from Irvine deserves at least some credit. Someone actually discovered her and given her a chance. The negativity that is spread across the Internet had people say all sorts of hurtful and damaging things to and about Rebecca Black. The one thing I can't stand about all of this is just why her. I think Rebecca Black- say what you want about her singing- is a beautiful lady. If she wasn't beautiful to me, she wouldn't be in a "Beauties" post now, would she? So I'm paying respect to this lady here.

By the way... there was a collaboration between Rebecca Black and Katy Perry long ago. Californians helping Californians. Pretty cool if you're from the Golden State.

Zooey Deschanel.

Zooey Claire Deschanel was someone I did not know of previously until seeing an Apple iPhone commercial of her. I think the (born: January 17, 1980)-year old is very cute and also entertaining. She is very well known for the hit "New Girl" comedy on FOX. Zooey is from Los Angeles, California. This is a video interview of the beautiful Zooey Deschanel:

Miranda Cosgrove.

Whereas Disney had the likes of Selena Gomez as a sweet-as-sugar personality, Nickelodeon's answer to Selena Gomez (if you will) is Miranda Cosgrove. Miranda Cosgrove is best known for starring in the hit show "iCarly" on Nickelodeon. The (born: May 14, 1993)-year old from Los Angeles, Calfornia is really one of the sweetest-faced personalities in American media besides Selena Gomez.

Megan Mullally.

One of the loveliest ladies to me is actress and singer Megan Mullally. This Los Angeles lady has been both a witty actress as well as a singer with an absolutely beautiful voice. On YouTube, the (born: November 12, 1958)-year old is famous for doing a music video for I Cannot Believe It's Not Butter called "Turn the Tub Around." I wanted to find that music video and post it here. However, I found a performance of hers that I literally cried to. You may need some tissues if you cry happy tears hearing this performance:

Annabelle Fleur is a stylish lady who runs the blog VIVALUXURY. I came across her by visiting her LOOKBOOK outfits. She is one of the loveliest ladies online. While I do think Annabelle is a beautiful name, her style is equally lovely. So check out her blog to gauge her style.

Rachel Pally.

Rachel Pally is a high-end fashion designer mostly noted for her stylish and comfortable fashions. The graduate of the University of California-Berkley (Golden Bears' country) has designed some sweet fashions for those who can afford her fashion pieces. Most of her fashions mostly are of comfortable jersey material. These items include pants, skirts, and dresses among many of her stylish clothes.

Kassandra Brooks (Facebook fan page).

If you're familiar with AMIClubwear, the name Kassandra Brooks should be familiar to you- especially if you've followed AMIClubwear's YouTube channel. Kassandra Marie Brooks moved on from AMIClubwear to focus on her own fashion line called "I'm Haute." It is safe to say the Californian loves and is very much fixated on fashion. In addition to being someone fixated on fashion, Kassandra is also a scorching hot model. Kassandra Brooks is a beautiful lady, but one of her biggest challenges is in dealing with acne problems. She remains a beautiful blonde while also battling these acne problems. Kassandra M. Brooks remains a charming SoCal beauty- both inside and out.

Kassandra Brooks is also a blogger. However, her material isn't regularly updated. You are free to have a look at her blog about her outfits if interested: The Haute Blonde. You can see her fashions from her store at www.imhaute.com (I'm Haute).

If you think "the best women are Southern," then this post will prove you right. American Beauties: This Region.

The region I will feature in this post is of Southern beauties. These consist of personalities from the South and Mid-South. I feature this section first in this series since I am from this region. It is the largest region I will feature since so many locations- 17, in fact- are part of it. I have defined a number of locations to comprise the "South" region of my "American Beauties" series. You will see personalities from or representing the following locations:

• Texas
• Oklahoma
• Louisiana
• Arkansas
• Mississippi
• Alabama
• Tennessee
• Kentucky
• Florida
• Georgia
• South Carolina
• North Carolina
• Virginia
• West Virginia
• Maryland
• Delaware
• District of Columbia

I used "locations" instead of "states" because of the District of Columbia- which is not a state. The personalities I feature don't necessarily follow a certain order as long as I mention them. I will try to find at least one personality from each location. As a result, expect no less than 17 featured persons. I may or may not succeed in finding personalities from each location, but I will definitely try.

Most of my "Beauties" posts are helped when I add pictures and videos to showcase the featured personalities. However, just mentioning certain people and putting in links is also helpful. I want to try to showcase certain personalities while also thinking of things like the performance of my site. So for some of these, you will see just a link mentioning the certain personalities. I do still hope you enjoy my tireless work. My Internet was down this past weekend, so I spent most of my time preparing drafts of blog posts.

If you think the best girls are Southern, then you're going to love this one. You will be introduced to many Southern ladies. I'm going to start off the American Beauties region with my native region. All of the featured personalities are either natives of, or born in the region specified. This region consists of the Mid-South and the American Southeast. However, I am labeling it all as "South."

I need to start with a fellow Houston-area lady to kick things off. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense to feature my native region without a native of this area.
Natalie Alvarado (also known as "Nat Boogie") was born in Clear Lake, TX, USA. She is best known for her hit "Goin' Crazy" along with her "Energy" song featuring Baby Bash. Natalie was a Houston Rockets Power Dancer who went on to become a recording artist. There was even a makeup line called "Goin' Crazy" named after Natalie's hit song. Speaking of which, here is that hit song from 2005:

Eva Longoria.

Time to go from Southeast Texas to South Texas and talk about a sweet petite named Eva Longoria. (Born: March 15, 1975)-year old Eva Longoria is from Rachal, Texas. Many know the 5'2" actress for her roles in "Desperate Housewives." Here is an interview Eva Longoria did on The Dr. Oz Show:

Selena Gomez.

Selena Gomez was born in New York City, but she is very much a Texas girl. She hails from a Dallas-area city called Grand Prairie. Many people know of Selena from Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place." Many others know of Selena Gomez for her time dating Justin Bieber. Apart from acting, Selena Gomez has also shown her strength as a musician. She's sung a number of songs like "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" among others. Selena also has a band called The Scene. I think she is extremely cute and sweet. I think it was 2006 or so when I first seen Selena Gomez. Even in this time where there aren't as many good girls in the Hollywood scene, Selena really shines as a vibrant and positive personality. Even today, Selena Gomez does dress a bit sexy, but she still retains an extreme modicum of modesty and doesn't overstep her boundaries.

Demi Lovato.

The rock star of Disney's "Camp Rock" and "Sonny With a Chance" named Demetria Devonne Lovato is simply... Demi Lovato. She's also a Texas girl, even though she was born in New Mexico- Albuquerque, New Mexico in fact. Demi is a bit more edgy than Selena but remains sweet for the most part. Demi also represents Grand Prairie, Texas. I usually know that wherever there was Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez was not too far behind.

Dixie Carter, President of TNA Wrestling.

There are multiple Dixie Carters, so I have to specify the one in question. I am referring to Dixie Carter- the president of Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) Wrestling. The average chauvinist or inconsiderate jerk would say something about women not worthy of or supposed to manage a professional wrestling promotion. Dixie Carter never got the memo. She is a beautiful (born October 6, 1964)-year old who manages the biggest professional wrestling promotion not named World Wrestling Entertainment. She is from Dallas, Texas and very much Southern, though she calls Nashville, TN home.

Ember Moon.

Ember Moon is known to many as the War Goddess or even the She-Nom. Ember also happens to be a native of Dallas, Texas, USA. Here is an interesting video of Ember Moon as she goes across her hometown of Dallas:

Nora Kapche, of "The Coupon Conte$$a".

The "Coupon Contessa" is one Nora Capche. Nora is a blogger whom specializes in discussing deals as well as in saving money. Her blog is called "Coupon Conte$$a." Often times on the Live Well Network show "Deals," Nora Kapche is often featured. Besides her own expertise in saving money, Nora also sometimes shares some interesting advice on do-it-yourself (DIY) material to clean up around the house or perform certain tasks without spending lots of money. No matter what advice she offers, you can be sure she will not disappoint. Oh, and did I mention that she's very pretty to me? Otherwise, why would she end up in one of my "Beauties" posts? She's a Houston-area girl, so it's always nice to salute my own Houston-area folks.

Nadine Moon is the founder of one of the finest cake makers in America- "Who Made the Cake!" Hailing from Katy, Texas; Emily Herren runs the blog "Champagne and Chanel." Emily kindly showcases her sense of style in her blog and on social media. She smiles often and has fairly nice fashion style.

While I haven't seen the "Reba" comedy series, I do respect her for taking her talents outside of music. Even Mr. I-Don't-Listen-to-Country-Music me has tremendous respect for Reba McEntire.

Ree Drummond.

How she was able to become so lucrative is fascinating. Ree was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. A lot of her material is featured in magazines as well as many of her own food products.

Gangnam Style!

The latest craze is Gangnam Style. This is the musical and dancing phenomenon started by the entertainer PSY. You are going to get a full course of Korean loving here in this "John's Blog Space" post. Most of you know I love Japan. However, Koreans can be just as entertaining (or weird) and awesome. So I got to give the Korean crowd some love. Most of the time, I don't give into trends or immediately want to get my voice across based on some of the latest trends and phenomena in social media. Usually, my involvement in some trend or phenomena just means I am just another voice or entity trying to get my contribution. I figure if I'm going to be part of something, I'll have to be original and distinctive. So that's why I don't take part in things like Internet memes, certain online trends, certain trends in the news, etc. But in a rare exception, I decided to show some Gangnam Style here.

So what the heck is Gangnam style? Watch the video, learn the moves, and see for yourself:

This video has 740M YouTube hits for a reason. Let me say this- "Gangnam Style" is one catchy song. It's something to latch onto and enjoy, unlike the unspeakably annoying "Friday" song from Rebecca Black. And come on now- how can you not get into the groove watching PSY go to work Gangnam Style. Even typing up this blog post, I was doing the Gangnam Style dance myself sitting on my bed! :) Hey- just because I'm a blogger doesn't mean I can't have fun blogging, okay!? But really can't really help but doing those horse riding moves. That even includes Texans like myself. We're used to horse and cattle here in Texas. So imagine doing the Gangnam Style in a place so used to horses and cattle.

But like I said earlier- Gangnam Style is immensely catchy.

[Briefly] About PSY.

(Born: December 31, 1977)-year old Park Jae-Sang is the South Korean fellow known by the stage name of PSY. He has been active on the music scene since 1999. The single "Gangnam Style" marked the sixth album by PSY. This song was CLEARLY the hottest song of Summer 2012. Take Your Pick: Dance Dance Revolution or Pump it Up?

Two of the most popular dancing arcade game series make up this "Take Your Pick"- Konami's Dance Dance Revolution series and Andamiro's Pump it Up. It is Japan's Konami vs. Korea Republic's Andamiro in the dancing game realm. Which is better? I invite my loyal blog readers to offer their thoughts. Those of you who don't have two left feet are invited to choose between these two dancing game giants! :)

--- Take Your Pick: Dance Dance Revolution or Pump it Up? ---

Both Dance Dance Revolution and Pump it Up are two games with an exceptional list of songs to dance to. These are either high-energy songs or some dance-worthy remixes of real songs. The songs are divided by difficulty. Some songs are easier to dance to with not as many moves. The harder songs require more movements. If you are not a very good dancer or not very good playing, it is best you start with some of the easier songs before attempting to dance to some of the harder songs.

The goal of both games is to watch the screen and step on the pads as the arrows approach the top of the screen. Try to land each movement at the right time to score the most points. You may see a string of arrows. That means you need to tap on that pad and hold for the full duration. Chain together many Perfect or OK moves to rack up the points and get the highest rank!

There are two stages for both games with the same number of pads to step on. This allows either for one-on-one dance battles or even (and I've seen this happen before) one player using both stages for special challenges.

It is probably a good idea to play this game with some appropriate footwear. So if you wear something that comes off easily (like flip-flop/thong sandals, clogs, mules, etc), or if you're wearing something not suited for sudden dance movements; it is best to take off your shoes before playing either game.

Dance Dance Revolution Series.

The Dance Dance Revolution series made its debut to the world in November 1998. A standard DDR stage consists of four pressure pads with arrows pointing up, down, left, and right. A number of DDR games for both arcade and home would be released through the life of the franchise.

Pump it Up Series.

The direct challenger to Dance Dance Revolution is Korea's Pump it Up series. The first PIU debuted in 1999 for PC and arcade. It was made by Nexcade and published by Korea's Andamiro. Pump it Up is played on a stage with diagonal directions. Pads point northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest. There is even a center stage pad to touch.

Both games deliver some great music to dance to as well as unique challenges to keep the dancing interesting.

So which arcade dancing game series is better?

Why the "Dance Dance Revolution" Series?

The Dance Dance Revolution series is a very fun dancing game series for the most part. Even if you are no kind of dancing star (like my lack of dancing talent), at least this is a series you can enjoy when at the arcades or playing home versions of the DDR franchise. I would say it's more of a dancing game everyone can enjoy without needing to feel like some sort of established dancing ace to play the game to begin with.

Why the "Pump it Up" Series?

Reading Wikipedia in preparing this post, I read that Pump it Up better suits more technical dancers. Mostly your breakdancing types would enjoy this game more than someone who just casually dances. So I probably would make that your primary reason to love this franchise over DDR. I have had only so limited experience playing "Pump it Up."


It's tough to choose one, but if going on experience alone, I favor Dance Dance Revolution on experience alone. That's not to that that Pump it Up is a bad game or a bad series, but I am just more familiar with (and a bit more comfortable with) DDR than PIU.
